I bought this ammo box mainly for the range, and it turns out to be exactly what I wanted.
It's very durable, holds either 200 or 250 rounds of .22 Long Rifle or .22 Long total, and is very easy to use.
According to MTM's site, it will also hold 200 or 250 rounds of .17 Mach 2, 200 rounds of .22 Winchester Magnum, or 150 rounds of .17 HMR.
The way it's laid out is that it holds 50 rounds on each side of the center storage recess and an additional 150 rounds of cardboard box ammo (three 50 round boxes) or an additional 100 rounds of plastic slide top CCI 50 round boxes.
The box holds fifty rounds nose down on each side of that center recess, with nice rounded bottoms for each hole to protect the bullet tips, and they are spaced nicely for easy removal for loading.
The hinge is integrally molded into the box, so that should hold up nicely, going on my long experience with many other MTM brand ammo boxes, all of which have held up remarkably well over the years.
One note I briefly mentioned in my video review: I would strongly recommend you keep this out of the heat, particularly in a car sitting in the sun, to prevent it from getting warped.
I've already ordered a second one to fill with ammo for my father-in-law's birthday, so that shows how much I like this.

This ammo box is perfect for organizing my trip to the range. The .22 lr rounds, seated slug down, are spaced well enough that even my fat fingers can easily get pluck the rounds for reloading. It will not only hold a full 100 round box in holes but the center tray provides room for another 50 round box and a couple magazines for my Beretta Bobcat. No more searching around my range bag. Its all in this modestly sized box.
Even though there is some clearance between the seated rounds and the lid nothing falls out while the box is closed and being carried.
The latch is secure enough to avoid accidental dumping but easy enough to open when you are ready.
Working the lid back and forth a few times at first will help it stay open while you use it.
Good value.

this ammo box does everything it is supposed to do. The spacing between the rounds is just big enough to get your fingers in but still hold 100 rounds plus a couple of boxes. It is enough for a match and extra for sighting shots. I mounted mine to a stand so that it could be used in kneeling and standing positions. The box did not appear very sturdy at fist but seems to be holding up to ten and thirteen year old boys just fine. The clasp is simple but stays closed and when it is open it springs open enough to let you get to the contents without have to hold it open. It will hold two ammo boxes flat or on edge. Larger boxes like the eley boxes also fit.

After you carefully insert all the .22 LR shells in the little holes, and close the lid... You turn the box over and all the shells fall out of their holes and start making a racket. Yes you can glue some foam rubber into the lid to solve this, but for the money I think they should not have had this problem. I bought two, and I am sorry I did.

I bought a couple of these cases to transport ammo to the range. I only found 2 drawbacks to these, but neither are deal breakers. First, the price is a bit high when compared to MTM's other 100 round cases. I bought a couple of the 9mm cases for the price of 1 of these. The second problem I encountered was how much noise these make when transported. If you keep these flat in a range bag they are okay, but if you put ammo cases sideways into a side pouch the rounds make a ton of noise. This is due to the gap between the lid and the rounds when the case is closed. It isn't large enough for rounds to dislodge, but there is definitely a lot of room.

To fix this I hot glued in a thin foam pad to the lid. I just used a quarter inch piece that is used for wrapping breakables for shipping. This filled some of the gap and gave the rounds a soft spot to hit against if they moved. This solved the problem instantly.

So, long story short(too late), I like these cases but took 1 star for the price and the need to alter them slightly to reduce the noise.

I've used the box several times for sighting in from a bench and used it at a .22 match this past weekend. The box is convenient and fits in my case perfectly. It holds 100 rounds out of the box and can hold up to three extra boxes in the storage area in the middle...or 2 boxes and some earplugs.

The only issue I have with the box is that the "hinge" is just part of the one-piece molded case. It is stiff and will not stay open without weighing down the lid. I tried a 50 round box of .22 ammo to weigh it down and it still flipped back over. I load my tube-fed and magazines 10 rounds at a time, so it's tolerable, but if I were using a single shot it would be unbearable. I'm hoping that it will loosen up with some use.

When I transport 22LR in this ammo box in my range bag the rounds spill out of their holes unless the box is perfectly flat. I wouldn't have purchased it knowing this in advance. I'll place a piece of foam in the lid section to fix. I have many MTM ammo boxes and all are very good. This one us poorly designed.
