4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Jawbone
The Motorola MOTOPURE H12 blows away the Aliph Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset- Black in terms of call fidelity, functionality, and size. 2.0 out of 5 stars No where close to a Jawbone
I've had a Jawbone since they first came out. For the last few months I've had problems getting a good connection between the Jawbone and the charger. I now can't get it to charge at all. Two days ago I went to the ATT store looking for a replacement. I liked the small size of the H12, and it was easier to put on my ear that the Jawbone. I also liked the magnetic...

(REAL NAME)
The Motorola MOTOPURE H12 blows away the Aliph Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset- Black in terms of call fidelity, functionality, and size. It addresses all but one gripe with the Jawbone, and features a couple of bonuses. Like the Jawbone, the H12 uses a proprietary interface between its cool magnetic docking station and not-so-cool travel capsule despite using a micro USB interface on each accessory. The H12 would be perfect if Motorola had included a built-in micro USB port directly on the headset ala the mini USB port on the Oakley Bluetooth Module (also manufactured by Motorola). It's easy to move beyond this issue because the H12 gets everything else right compared to the Jawbone.

The H12's call fidelity is excellent. Calls come through loud and clear connected via Bluetooth to the same Treo. The talk button is solid and easy to use. The H12 features a power switch! No more accidental pants pocket turn-ons although the rubber ear cushion slips off if it gets caught coming out of the pocket. Like the Oakley Bluetooth Module, there are two clear and distinct volume control buttons for increasing and decreasing the volume. The H12's LED status light is subtle so as not to be distracting at night.

Extra kudos to the H12 include a thin yet comfortable ear loop design that works with the temple piece of the Oakley SQUARE WIRE. The H12 is also smaller and lighter than the Jawbone. The former weighs only 12 grams while the latter weighs in at a full ounce (28.35 grams). Overall, the MOTOPURE H12 is a clear winner versus the Jawbone, IMHO.

4.0 out of 5 stars More comparisons?, February 1, 2008
I like the design of the product! The desktop charging station and travel case work perfectly for me. I feel comfortable cramming it in my pants pockets because the case is sturdy! The noise-cancel techno whatsit seems to work alright. I have nothing to compare it to. There does seem to be static, though. I can't tell if it is because of the combination between my phone and the headset or what. I use a Sony Ericsson z525 cell phone. I tried to use it in the car with the stereo on and I think it cut my voice out as noise, well at least it made it very faint to the other caller.
Very comfortable! The earbuds seem to come off more easily than I'd like, but it fits great! I was worried because of the strange looking plastic hook. I haven't tried using it, but it has a shirt clip, too. It pairs with my phone effortlessly.
I even tried to pair it with my Laptop to use it for voice recognition! I think that the noise-cancellation only works when its used with a phone or some specific pairing. I recorded the voice and it was a bit staticky and did not cut noise hardly any I noticed. It worked passably as a headset for the voice recognition. I was really hoping that the noise-cancellation stuff would help with that, but it doesn't seem to. Doesn't change much, though. Had to have a quiet background before, and still do. Oh well.

Worth the $120 I paid.

2.0 out of 5 stars No where close to a Jawbone, February 21, 2008
I've had a Jawbone since they first came out. For the last few months I've had problems getting a good connection between the Jawbone and the charger. I now can't get it to charge at all. Two days ago I went to the ATT store looking for a replacement. I liked the small size of the H12, and it was easier to put on my ear that the Jawbone. I also liked the magnetic coupling to the charger of the H12. (I attribute my charger connection problems with the Jawbone to the tight fit and resulting difficulty in removal.)
BUT the bottom line on any Bluetooth device is how well both parties can hear. This is where the H12 fails miserably. Every person that I talked to today said that I sounded like I was in a well. Tomorrow I am going back to the ATT store to exchange the H12 for another Jawbone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't deserve even one star..., March 17, 2008
What a shame for Motorola! I thought it was time for me to move on from my Plantronics 510 which is really old and beat up. I heard nice things about this from the AT&T salesperson the other day and so I thought what the heck; I'll give it a try. It does look shiny and nice; but that's where the good things stop! The incoming sound is EXTREMELY soft; I couldn't hear the other person in the quietest place even in my office... Really, when it comes to a headset, the sound quality is where I draw the line. As with many other new Bluetooth headsets I've seen, it accepts a limited number of charges before the battery is useless. According to the manual, after 200 or 300 times of recharging the battery, you need to get a new headset. I charge my Bluetooth headset every night so I'd never run out of battery the next day, so this posed a serious problem. Knowing this would've only lasted me less than a year, this was another huge drawback for me. It came with a charging stand and a _cute_ travel charging pod. Again, another problem area since you can't just plug in the power cord to the headset without having to carry some kind of a stand with you everywhere you go. Naaah.. Not for me! Feel free to ask questions in the comment area in case I missed something here.. Oh and I returned mine. No need to keep torturing oneself any longer! :-D

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnetic Charging unit...Nice Touch!!, May 9, 2008
I have zero complaints about this headset. I bought it at the local Military NEX and I paid 99 dollars for it. I see its cheaper at other places, but not much cheaper.

I have a Motorola Cell phone so it made the bluetooth connection that much easier. I would imagine it would be a problem on other phones, but I don't know. This is my first bluetooth headset, but its comfortable and the voice commands are good too.

I ride my bike a lot and I tried wearing it on my ear during my ride (peddle bike), it never slipped off or anything.

THe wind reduction doesn't work in the extreme wind noise from me riding but that's pretty extreme.

Overall, I'm very satisfied, I recommend this product if your budget calls for it.

Yes, the two different charing units that it comes with are nice, they are magnetized so it stays on the charger easier....NICE TOUCH!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear sound, March 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
nice, light weight, battery life doesn't last very long. it does not block out background noise like it claims but it does boost the sound so you can hear who you are talking to much better. it is very comfortable and it is easy to forget you are wearing it. it very small and easy to hide under your hair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality headset, September 7, 2008
By
This review is from: MTRH12 - Bluetooth Headset, Dual Mic Technology, Black/Silver (Electronics)
This headset is pretty good, though still a bit uncomfortable after continuous use (over 1hr). The call quality varies for the most part, sometimes it is extremely clear and other times the party being reached sounds like they are mumbling. I'm not sure if this has to do with their phones or reception but I find it always sounds better when I switch back to my phone in these instances.

Besides the headset's call quality limitations, it is quite the looker! The silvery futuristic finish is quite attractive and I can imagine it looking quite sharp on someone wearing a suit.

For the most part I am pretty satisfied with my purchase, but occasionally the quality is bad.

Cell phone being used: Sony Ericsson W810.

After returning my Jawbone, I went to the Sprint store and asked for a solid earpiece. The H12 was the answer to that question. I received it and it has worked solid for me ever since. Calls come in loud and clear. Volume is not an issue and most importantly, ear comfort is great. Solid earpiece that delivers...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful design, terrible performance, August 12, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MTRH12 - Bluetooth Headset, Dual Mic Technology, Black/Silver (Electronics)
I wanted a noise reducing blue tooth headset and didn't want to spend a lot of money. I got suckered into trying this because of it's beautiful design, charging cradle and Motorola name. I don't know how Motorola could put their name on this piece of crap. I got constant static on both ends of my conversation. Everyone I called complained that they could not hear me. I had to constantly repeat myself and talk very loud to be heard. I tried pairing it with my new LG Dare and also my iPhone. The results with both phones were the same, horrible!

I later purchased a Blue Ant and for less money and got superior performance. However I still wasn't completely satisfied so I broke down and got the Jawbone II and now I get stellar performance. The Jawbone is the lightest of the 3 and far more comfortable. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this Motorola. You can get the Blue Ant cheaper and be much happier or if you really want top of the line get the Jawbone II.
