Este no es cualquier acustico. La multi-talentosa Julieta Venegas aprovechó esta oportunidad para crear una propuesta musical nueva, re-inventando sus canciones, llenándolas de nuevos sonidos a través de excelentes y novedosos arreglos. Ademas, selecionó muy bien sus invitados, basandose en su calidad artistica y no en el nivel de fama de estos. Fue un verdadero "dream team". Para comenzar, tiene entre sus musicos a la tambien talentosisima y multi-instrumentista Natalia Lafourcade. En "eres para mi" invito a la hip-hoper espanola La Mala Rodriguez, (hermosa y sexy por demas!)haciendo gala de su destreza y fuerza en el escenario. Otra agradable sorpresa fue Juan Son. Les confieso que no sabia quien era, pero que voz mas impresionante! Ademas, le tocó cantar una de las mejores canciones de Julieta - "de mis pasos" de su primer disco -. Como si fuera poco, tuvo de invitada a Marisa Monte, para muchos la mejor cantante de su generacion de la musica brasileira. Con su habitual seguridad y elegancia la "tribalsta" se lució como siempre con su increible voz y modo de interpretar. Luego subio a la tarima su antiguo productor, el Rey Midas del Rock en español y ganador de dos Oscares, Gustavo Santaolalla,.Para cerrar con broche de oro, la acompañó en la co-dirección y co-producción Jaques Morelenbaum; ¿quieren una referencia? este violonchelista es el director musical de Caetano Veloso. En síntesis, Una produccion impecable, que la disfruten...

Ever since her excellent first U.S. release, "Aquí," Julieta Venegas has done nothing but improve in every way. With each release, her song writing, arrangements, and delivery have matured, to the point where one wonders if it possible for her to get any better. With her most recent previous release, "Limon y Sal," Venegas proved that popular music (in any language) can actually be interesting as well as entertaining. When I first heard "Limon y Sal," I assume that she had reached a peak. Now "MTV Unplugged" brings together her best music in a superb live performance that surpasses everything she had previously produced. Her performance throughout is tight and disciplined with charm to spare. The assembled musicians are equally tight, surpassing the studio musicians of past CD releases. While the DVD contains a few more songs than the CD version of "MTV Unplugged," it doesn't hurt to have an audio version of this great concert for the car. And, while you're at it, get a copy of another great Julieta Venegas CD, "Sí." Thank you, Julieta, for making music that holds up!

As an Anglo with only a smattering of Spanish, I was stunned to see Julieta Venegas performing El Presente while channel hopping. As I did further investigation, I found out just how huge Julieta is in the spanish speaking world. I would rank her right up there with Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Dolores O'Riordan and other English-speaking singer songwriters.

Julieta's clear pronunciation helps me to understand something of her lyrics, but it is her music and her voice that grabbed me! She combines a little rock, rap, mariachi, accordian, etc., etc. to create a unique blend. Her studio albums are terrific, but this live performance takes the cake. Her duets with other artists are stunning.

You won't go wrong with this one!

I had not heard much about Julieta Venegas until recently, when I saw a video of her MTV Unplugged (El Presente) performance. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I hardly EVER buy Latin music, much less a Latin performance on DVD. Even if you do not understand the language, Julieta's music trancends all boundaries. It is both a joy to listen to and watch the music video. I have purchased and would highly recommend the CD/DVD. Julieta Venegas' music is a breath of fresh air, contagious, and the harmonies are pitch perfect. Julieta Venegas is a talented lady indeed!

This dvd is a must buy for any Julieta Venegas fan! Even if you look at the list of songs and believe its just the same thing all over, think again! Because this DVD is unplugged you have Julieta experimenting with new beats, instruments, and introducing new guest artists that have influenced her musical career. The audio is amazing as well as her performance, you will enjoy this dvd.

Como se ha escrito anteriormente este Unplugged es uno de los mejores en lengua castellana hasta la fecha (casi rivaliza con el Hello, el Unplugged del gran Charly Garcia) y consituye un hito en la carrera de Julieta Venegas mostrandonos asi el porque el maestro Joaquin Sabina, el mejor cantautor, ha dicho de ella que es una genia. Tocando con maestria varios instrumentos e imprimiendo sentimiento a cada canción que interpreta Julieta nos lleva por un repaso de su discografia, a la cual le imprime otro matiz, de una manera tan maravillosa que los 15 temas pareceria que acaban demasiado pronto. La calidad de la producción musical es impecable, los arreglos magnificos y los músicos en total sintonía con la idea que Julieta tiene del concierto. Imprescindible en cualquier colección. Gracias Julieta... creo que Sabina ya tiene su contraparte femenina.

A masterpiece. So far the best Unplugged of this decade. Julieta performs great and also in a unique way, full of feeling. Ms. Venegas rocks ! Do a favor yourself and order this DVD now.

Julieta Venegas has been happy discovery for me. But the performances of songs like Lento, Ilusion, and Adar Conmigo are even better than the studio versions, revealing Venegas as a gifted songwriter and extraordinarily talented performer. Her drive to collaborate is present here, where sharing the stage with Marisa Monte in Ilusion is a joyful ode to the sweeping melody lines and gorgeous harmonies Venegas has mastered.
Rather than to distract, the extending musical accompaniment serves to accentuate the Venegas ability to synthesis accessible pop-rock styles with the sweetest - and fun - Latin touches.
These songs will steal your heart.

I thought it was going to be a boring DVD with just her and a guitar, because it said acoustical or something like that, but it had a full band, and a lot of different guests who sang or played an instrument with her. I have no idea what she says, but I still like her music A LOT! This is a VERY GOOD DVD and a must have for any fan of hers.

Julieta Venegas demuestra en este Unplugged que su musica tiene vigencia y fuerza aun traducida al formato Unplugged. Las canciones son presentadas con novedosos arreglos y ella y la banda dan una demostracion de profesionalismo y a lavez muestran lo mucho que se divierten al interpretar los temas. Muy recomendado como novedad o para conocer mas de esta impresionante artista.

Julieta really rocks in this DVD. I like her because she writes her songs, sets up the music and plays many instruments. She is a complete package!!

The DVD takes you into the lives of the people doing the video. I really like Ilusion with the duo with Marisa Montes.

If you like dancing, lights and special effects but don't care about good music this is not for you. If you enjoy good music done by real musicians that share part of their life the get it now.
