Psychotherapist Kate Huntington helps other people cope with the horrible things that have happened to them, but she herself has led a charmed life... so far. Now a killer with a mysterious grudge against her and her closest friend, lawyer Rob Franklin, is threatening everyone and everything that she holds dear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a new mystery series! January 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Kate Huntington has built the perfect life for herself. A successful career, a loving husband, good friends but all that is about to change. Her strength and understanding of the human mind are tested as a killer begins to stalk her and the people closest to her. The stakes are raised when Kate finds out something that changes the game. (Don't want to spoil it!) Besides Kate's stregnth, one of the things I loved about this novel was the insight into mental illness from Kate's perspective as a therapist. It really makes even the secondary characters come alive.

Her story reminds us to cherish the people we love because you never know when something dark is going to step in and tear your world apart. I'm not a big thriller fan, I prefer the slow build up of tension while trying to solve a mystery and that's exactly what this novel delivers. I didn't see the end coming, either!

Is it worth the price? Definitely! Can't wait for Kate's next adventure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical murder mystery March 7, 2012

Lamb's characters are wonderfully developed and engaging with many endearing qualities. I particularly appreciated the depth of the relationships amongst the characters. In the guise of a fast-paced mystery Lamb explores the complexities of male/female friendships and introduces us to some of the challenges of psychotherapy. Multiple Motives has a well planned plot with subtle clues to keep you guessing who-dun-it until the very end. It is well written with wholly believable characters you'll consider friends by the end of the book. I read Multiple Motives in 2 sittings. I can't wait to see what Kate, Rob and the gang are up to in book 2!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read! June 12, 2012

I really liked this book. Kate Huntington, a psychologist, is a wonderful character - a strong female lead, compassionate and loyal. The author is able to shed light on some very serious mental health issues through Kate's character, but in a way that it is woven throughout the storyline/plot. The other characters, each with their own unique voice, keeps the book entertaining. These are folks I wouldn't mind having in my circle of friends. I hope they show up in the next book as well. There is plenty of suspense and Ms. Lamb keeps you guessing who the bad guy or gal is. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unlikeable
The characters in this book are completely unlikeable. Shallow, dumb, self absorbed. Not a single one is smart enough to listen to people trying to help them? Read more

More About the Author

In her youth, Kassandra Lamb had to decide which of her two greatest passions, writing or psychology, she would pursue as a career. Being partial to food, heat and electricity, she opted for psychology. Now that she's retired from her career as a psychotherapist, she can focus on creating an alternate universe in which her protagonist, Kate Huntington, is always the kind, generous and insightful person that Kassandra wishes she was herself.

When she's not at her computer, transported in mind and spirit into the world of her characters, Kassandra physically lives in Florida and Maryland, with her husband and her Alaskan Husky, Amelia.

Kassandra was born in Baltimore and lived in Maryland for the first 50 years of her life. Like Kate Huntington, she was a specialist in trauma recovery for two decades. She also taught psychology at Towson University and still teaches part-time in Florida.
