5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Psychological Suspense!
A very different take on a suspense story that hinges on the unraveling life of a single professional woman. Computers and the internet do not play a huge role in this book, but the use is clever and intriguing. The author also delves into the blackmarket underworld, which is fascinating, and the use of memorable street people brings a gripping richness to the story...

2.0 out of 5 stars A valiant attempt, but there needs to be more
I saw this author at a book signing and having met her, I dearly wanted this book to be as fun as she was.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed.

There are some bright spots, and she does take chances with her character, but there are some dialogue problems and the story is a bit jumbled.

The plot idea, though, is very good. I still recommend it as something...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting psychological thriller, July 7, 2000

This is her first work apparently, but I hope it will not be her last. I was very intrigued by the plot and the torment that was present throughout the story. I read it in two sittings, as it was a very enjoyable read. The characters were quite interesting as standalone characters; notably Zipper. Would like to see more of him in a subsequent story... Reminds me of the kind of guy you would run into in the Army in the quartermaster corps; someone who can do anything and get anything for you.

This is not your average mystery. I never thought I could empathize with a killer! The writing is superb and the supporting characters are very real, each with their own interesting stories. Really enjoyed this book!

I enjoyed this book a lot. The author took some risks, and in doing so, she created a fascinating story. This book is one of the most interesting and engrossing novels that I've read this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review from I Love a Mystery, November 23, 1999

This review is from: MURDER.COM - The Dark Side of the Net (Paperback)
The first murder is the tough one. After that they become easier and easier. This sentiment is almost a cliché in modern murder mysteries, but St. Peter makes it all too real. Elizabeth Strong is a marketing executive who seems to have everything going for her-a successful career, financial independence, striking good looks-but she is in reality being torn asunder by a terrifying past. She remembers all too vividly a father who was sexually and physically abusive and a loving mother who couldn't take it anymore-who finally commits suicide only to have her daughter discover the body. Elizabeth struggles with her demons and finally yields. Her drunken father, who has now come back into her life, is going to pay and pay horribly for his past treatment of his daughter. And a computer will be the instrument of death. MURDER.COM is a gripping and harrowing tale of a tortured mind that can find relief only through vengeance. St. Peter will keep you reading and wondering and sympathizing with this woman who drifts deeper and deeper into single minded madness. This is a psychological thriller at its very best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murder.Com, July 10, 2000
This review is from: MURDER.COM - The Dark Side of the Net (Paperback)
Finding this first book by Sarah St Peter is like finding a large undiscovered diamond. The story moves quickly, and the characters are well drawn. She has a very rich vocabulary including her street language, which sounds authentic. I have just ordered six more copies to give to friends, which may be the best recommendation of all, as this book covers subjects many women have been touched by, yet few will discuss.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hard-hitting tale that comes full-circle, September 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MURDER.COM - The Dark Side of the Net (Paperback)
Murder.com is a nail-biting, fast-moving story that's as hard-hitting as it is suspenseful. You find yourself sympathizing with Elizabeth Strong from the very beginning. As the pressure builds, Elizabeth is determined to settle things on her own terms. The ending surprised me, which is a good barometer to an enjoyable reading experience. Sarah St. Peter shows her moxie by taking on a sensitive issue to weave a crafty tale, something many other first-time authors would hesitate to do. It shows her determination to write on HER own terms, something that should serve her well in the future.
