5.0 out of 5 stars Load times aside, this game is a lush, long, and high replayed expirence, October 14, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: MX vs. ATV : On The Edge (Video Game)
Think Midnight Club 3 had horrid load times? Pfft, that game is super fast compared to the disastorus load times of MX vs ATV on the edge. The load times are absoluty mind numbing and it's quite painful to watch the gear (the object that indicates loading). move S...L...O...W...L...Y. And it's no help either that the game gives you a boring backround to read, basically the controls over a grey, boring backround. Waiting for a game will never kill you as much as this. I think this gets my vote as the worst load times ever seen in a videogame. Too bad they couldn't put a game as a loading screen (but that would probally add two more minutes to the load times).

It's too bad that the load times are such a shame, because this game is a wonderful, offroad masterpiece that would be perfect if the developers would have put some time into the game. THis is the best offroader for the PSP, and it's alot better than Sony's ATV offroad fury game for PSP. The controls are sliky smooth and there are a huge variety of vehicls and race types. THis game will keep you busy for a long time. There are short tracks, monster truck designed courses, Motorcross stadiums, conventianls, uphill climbs, and much more.

graphics are impressive, and the levels are varied and the locations are fine, especially such levels like the Jungle Falls level or the Egypt level. The riders are designed well to. The ground textures are a little bland, but it reall dosent' stand out unless your always focus on it. Speaking of variety, did I mention all the great vehicles? They all handle well, and are a blast to play with. Usually, vehicles like this feel like tacked on extras that were just poorly made, but heck, even the Golf Carts are fun. Need I say more. Nah, this game is just a great offroad racer. SO far, it's the best one on the PSP.

The only problem besides the obvious is the disastrous music soundtrack. Sorry, but I am not into Crossfade, Papa Roach, and all the other radio rock tripe they have on this. At least the Bullets And Octane song is good.

This game is a great racing game that will do a fine job of sating portable speed on the go. Just be prepared to do alot of waiting, but just remember: Good things come to those who wait.

A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: MX vs. ATV : On The Edge (Video Game)
Ok,when i first got this game i was a little worried that it would be the same as the last one.It mostly is, exept for a few changes, they took out the yahmahas and the ktm,s (thos of you who have no clue about motocross, they took out the blue bikes and the orange ones)It also has one knew national and knew saind rails, and golf carts. The graphics were awsome for a handheld.Atv blazin trails doesent even compare to this game. This game is a must for people who like these kinds of games.

MX vs ATV On the Edge is an awsome game. The game takes forever to load but it is worth the wait. The graphics are great. There's a store to buy vehicles & gear for great customizing. You can also check your profile to see your game completion and unlocks percentage. What you can play is Single Player, Ghost Racing, Free Ride, Practice, High Score Challenge, Follow the Leader & Big Air Challenge. In Single Player, you can choose to race the Supercross, Nationals, Short Track, Open Class, Hill Climbs & Supermoto. You can compete in freestyle events & accept challenges. In Ghost Racing, you can try to improve lap times by racing againist your best lap. Its available in Supercross, Nationals, Short Tracks, Open Class & Supermoto. In Free Ride, there are no restrictions in the environment and start zones are available to start any race in that environment. In practice, the environment is completely open butyou start within the event type chosen. In High Score Challenge, its a freestyle stunt competition where you try to have the highest stunt score by the end of the time limit. In Combo Challenge, its about the same as High Score Challenge except two stunts equal one combo. In Follow the Leader, you and Al try to complete a list of stunt combos before the time runs out. The winner is determined by Who completes the list first or who has the most stunts completed. In Big Air Challenge, you find the best hills in the course and try to have the biggest air time and the best stunt score when the time runs out. You can also play multiplayer. Rainbow Studios & THQ made an awsome game.
