Shooter games like Battlefield 4 perform flawlessly on this monitor.

No the screen does not go from end to end it just looks like that when off you can even tell if you owned it for a day that there is a line where the screen ends.
Omar
If you can use HDMI and you have a recent video card, your PC will stream digit audio and the monitor speakers will produce very good sound quality.

Gorgeous screen and the speakers are surprisingly good. It takes a bit to get used to the widescreen but once you do you won't go back.

Only Con would be it's not VESA compatible but I never intended to mount it.

Received it just today for use with my late 2012 27'' imac! So far the picture quality is great, not as great as the imac but I feel as if i need to tweak it some, maybe I can find someone's settings with it tuned nicely. I've already put it to work, using it for the timeline in Premiere Pro CS6 as i full-screen the playback on the imac. It's height in comparison takes getting used to but definitely a sweet monitor, I don't regret it one bit. If i were to say there are any cons to this purchase, it would be the initial packaging, the box came almost destroyed and half open along with almost no protection on the inside but some crumpled up paper. It was to the point where the Asus box was even scuffed and quite frankly I was almost outraged, expecting a wrecked product. Thankfully Asus' packaging wasn't nearly as poor and held the monitor nicely in it's little styrofoam housing. As for gaming, I've briefly tested it with my Ps3 and so far it is a beauty. Oh, and before I forget, I feel as if Asus "over-hyped" their sound system for this monitor, it's definitely not terrible, but not nearly as good as they claimed it would be. But in the long run a pro/prosumer set-up would eventually be seeing some sort of sound system built separately so that's of no concern to me.
Ultimately, I'm happy with this purchase. If anyone has their screen tuned nicely I'd love it if you shared your settings so I can toy with it :')

(Used a mini-displayport to displayport connector from cable matters)

Seems to adjust well to varied application settings. Image quality great for game graphics, movies, or work spreadsheets. A good overall household screen.

Crystal clear crisp images. Able to game with a widescreen aspect ratio and watch blu-ray in complete Theater quality ratios. This is definitely a unit to glorify your technology savvy needs with.

Honestly I absolutely love this monitor. Its amazing for watching movies on at my desk, since its the 21:9 aspect ration you wont have any black bars, the movie will fill up the entire screen and makes it that much more enjoyable to watch. Surfing around the internet this is pretty sweet too. I recently went from 2 - 22" monitors to just this single monitor and I dont really miss having two screens since i can split the pages and it still able to see each window and everything on each website. For Gaming this is a great monitor still, most games will have absolutely no problem playing on this monitor. Only game that has given me any issues is Dayz SA and it just took longer to get the settings to work right, but its still in Alpha so im not complaining. the extra view you get when playing FPS games is amazing.

Only complaint I have is that the price point for this monitor is a little high. I bought this monitor and pulled it out of the box, put on my desk and it was massive and i loved it. However a couple weeks later I bought the same version monitor but only in the 27 inch and i got to say the $140 cheaper 27 inch monitor looks bigger. but that is because of the aspect ratio is 16:9 and is only 1920x1080. the 29 inch is at least an 1.5 inches shorter but the width is obviously a lot longer. If I had seen these monitors side by side, I probably would have bought the 27 inch monitor.

The price is honestly the only thing that caused me to not give it a full 5 stars. I would easily buy this monitor and have 2 of them if it got closer to $300 ($350 is the highest I would pay to get a second monitor)

Pros
-great color
-screen size
-speakers surprisingly good (only good - doesn't beat a simple $50 2.

I've been through a lot of monitors, and this was a purchase made to replace an HP 2509 model. I've been running dual monitors for nearly a decade, and this monitor puts to shame every other I've ever utilized. The display itself is aesthetically pleasing, and the colors and refresh rate are top notch. It's absolutely vibrant.

Without a doubt this is one of the most beautiful monitors I've ever owned. ASUS has always been a wonderful company, and included in the box is every possible cable you could need to connect the monitor.

The only downside is that the speakers internalized in the monitor aren't 'fantastic'. They're sufficient. Although, if you're relying on the in-monitor speakers, I'm not sure why you're spending $400 on a monitor!

Arrived in great shape with no dead pixels. Clarity and color is breathtaking. Touch sensitive screen controls at lower right underside of monitor take a little getting used to... first-world problems eh? Really happy with it!

This is definitely a beautiful monitor. Both the physical case and the screen itself. Nice tight pixels, everything ASUS claims. The 21:9 form factor works great with Aero Snap. You can have two windows side by side and feel like they each have all the room they need on screen. Essentially, this monitor can work in replacement of two 19-21" monitors for basic multi-tasking. The base of the monitor is beautiful, however, keep in mind that the monitor is NOT height adjustable, and sits pretty low on your desk, just under 3".

The only points we would make are as follows:

1) While the built in speakers are probably the best any monitor has to offer, they will easily distort across the sound spectrum, both highs and lows (bass and high end "S" sounds)... even at middle audio levels. If your computers audio driver does not have a built in equalizer, then you will be left with regret, because ASUS does not include even the simplest of sound modes or equalizers, and while B&O put great audio in cars, the technology in this speaker is clearly not doing its job. Overall, we were disappointed by the distortion, and in some respects, its even painful to listen to certain songs or watch certain movies.

2) While there is a headphone jack, there is no subwoofer output. This monitor has pretty decent mids, and if you could connect a powered sub, or even if ASUS had a small one 6" or 8" sub for sale with the monitor, the average user could probably do without external speakers for 90% of their applications.

3) The headphone output jack must be influenced by the B&O ICE technology, because the sound you will get from it is inferior to the sound you will get directly from your audio card.
