This mic is very solid considering it is USB; if you want to get a studio sound out of your microphone then you need to go to a real studio. However for recording demos and such with logic or garage band: This thing is great. Plug and play, levels are easy to adjust and the stand is nice. What alot of folks need to do is play with the EQ after recording the vocals, that makes a HUGE different in the sound of the track.

I don't have a great deal of experience with audio equipment, but in my brief exposure I must say this is a good microphone. It is simple to set up and easy to use. MXL also includes a couple pamphlets for best results, which are very accurate and helpful. It can be used with any recording program and has a great sound quality. I would absolutely advise the purchase/use of a pop filter (as with any condenser microphone). If you're looking for a good quality microphone for under $100, this is a good choice. You won't notice a difference in sound unless you buy a much more expensive microphone. My only complaint is the noise floor, but it's nothing a little tweaking/editing, can't take care of.

This product is very cool and having a gud quality recording. This product being USB driven there are pros as well as cons. The pros is u dont need to have any mixer in order to record via computer. but the cons are there is a humming sound which goes on which is a bit audible and this product for mono recording not for stereo recording....but its always accepted for a home recording or studio recording in some cases.

The sound and clarity of this mic is brilliant. However, if you are a serious voice over actor, and you need to use headphones, this will not work for you. The nature of it being a USB mic causes a delay in the headset that so far I have not found an inexpensive fix for. I've now moved on to a condenser with preamp to solve the problem. If you don't need a head set or monitor, record away! The mic is great in that case and takes no steps other than plugging it in.

The sound of this product is crisp and clear. It is easy to operate and includes a small stand useful for a first time amateur user. The instructions for the mxl mixer program seems to point to a program missing from the website but I use audacity anyway and that wasn't a problem. Everything for me was good.

I bought this for MySpace karaoke and I find myself using it all the time for digital recording. The sound quality is great!

I love how easily it sets up and tears down... and, since it doesn't require me to install software drivers, it works perfectly with embedded web programs.

I purchased this microphone several months ago based on a recommendation from a very reputable source. I am using it exclusively for voice recording. I am more than pleased with this microphone and its ease of use. The clarity is excellent given the price. My first recordings with this microphone were sent off to the studio and they were amazed at the quality. In fact, the recording was sent to another engineer for an opinion of the quality and he was equally impressed.

My setup includes the MXL 990 USB and Adobe Audition 3.0. I have not needed the simple preamp software as of yet, but may play with it to see just how much more I can do with it. For the price and for having a very simple recording studio at home, this microphone has simply amazed and I am tempted to get a second one just to have it around.

An excellent mic for the price. Used it for a project and recorded excellent. Only drawback is configuring the sound like you want it. USB sometimes gives you changed levels. A must have for beginner recording or a small budget.

I couldnt believe how well the analog outpuy MXL 990 headphones i bought earlier which put out a sound i hadnt heard ever with the original vocals that were mixed down in my recent songs....Soooo.... i had no choice but to get the USB (for digital recording) mic to have the best of both worlds......i wouldnt trade the mic i have and this mic thats currently in route here for the world!!!! On top of that for a really good price!!!!...Thanks Amazon.com

I bought this mic 3 months ago, it worked pretty good while it was working. But it just stopped one day, i tested it at guitar center and it wont work on their computer either. I bought a mic from radio shack for $60 that didnt sound as good but it lasted way longer than this one. my mxl mic didnt last a year.
