Purchased this because my teammates work in various countries and we communicate in small conference rooms using Cisco VOIP speaker phones. Anyone remote would often complain the mic on the speaker phone was not loud enough and they couldn't hear everything being said, especially with low-talkers and people that like to sit away from the table.
Now we conference call using Google Talk or Skype...I toss the mic on the conference room table and everyone can hear extremely well. The Mic also has a speaker port so when you plugin into the USB port, the pc will see both a new MIC and a new Speaker.... Planning on ordering another mic to keep at home for conference calls with friends and family.

I use this mic to capture the voices from meetings in a conference room. I run Camtasia to capture the video portion of a slide or other computer/projected presentation and the audio portion from the mic and then encode it and store the movie on our corporate file server for future viewing. The conference table is 30' long. Since the mic has 180 degree coverage, I place the mic close to one end of the table pointing towards the other end. It is very sensitive and has good frequency response. I adjust the record level using the computer audio mixer controls or the audio level control in Camtasia. Due to the wide frequency response range of this mic, it will also pick up AC noise, but I use the filters build into Camtasia to get rid of that frequency range. You could also use any other goood audio editing program such as Audacity (no cost)to do this. Highly recommended.

I bought this for my office in order to conduct video-conferencing using skype between our two offices. However, we have a 20 foot conference table with a credenza at one end where the computer and TV are located. Being that this is a USB powered device, we had to use a USB hub in order to keep it powered over the length we needed to run it. YOU CAN NOT USE THIS MIC WITH A USB HUB! It does mention it in the user's manual, but it would be nice to know prior to purchasing.

Plugged it into my MacBook Pro and it just worked. Am using it for a daily meeting in a crowded room with about 15 people to broadcast the meeting via video chat. Works surprisingly well under difficult circumstances. Works better than the Polycom system with two extension mics we have in the same room.

We recently replaced our old mic with this one in a 6 - 10 person conference room. We primarily use it for calls using skype. I must say that it's a HUGE improvement. Long gone are the days of having to repeat ourselves or move closer to the mic. I'm pretty sure that it would work in a larger room as well, but can't test it.
I really like that it has a speaker output on the back. It simplifies our setup. Also, the USB cable is detachable from the mini-USB port on the back of the device. While it's not important to us, it might be for those that want a shorter\longer cord or those that wish to pack it up. The only improvement that I could think of would be to have a mute button on the mic.

i am using this mic in a small office. it fits my need perfectly.
i was looking for a mic were i could be anywhere in the room and still have the mic pick up my voice. it is a sensitive mic. it picks up all the sounds in the office, may be an issue for some. sound quality is great. no installation required on xp or windows 7.

I'm a court reporter and use this mic to record every job I take down. Although I have had pretty good success with previous mics, none of them could pick up the guy at the end of the conference table nearly as well. I have not issues with it recording random noises in the room either. Be warned, it's quite a big bigger than it looks.

First of all, I never write reviews and Amazon, hands down, has the best reviews. I may not buy everything from Amazon but I always research everything here. And now I feel I need to contribute since all I've done up to this point is take...Needed to find an improved microphone for Skype in our training/conference room for ~30 employees and remote offices. Goal was to allow remote offices ability to hear everyone in the classroom regardless of speakers sitting location. Up to this point, we used the microphone on a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910. A 120" screen mounted at an angle in the corner of room...rows of tables lined horizontally from there to opposite corners. From the screen, the farthest users are 20 to 25 feet away. Sound system also attached to training room computer. Biggest concerns for install was feedback, buzzing/hissing from EMF, and the range of microphone(s). Mounted the AC404 diagonally on the drop ceiling about 2-3 ft in front of the screen. Thought we would need to run the sound through the AC404 headphone jack to compensate for feedback/echo; turns out a buzz came from speakers when running sound system through AC404. Feedback/echo ended up a none issue anyway when running through computer. Everyone is stunned by how how clear just one microphone performs for the entire room. Speakers from the back of the room are as clear as speakers from 5 ft away. Very impressive. Absolutely zero echo/feedback (Skype may have some influence here -although echo has been a problem in previous experiences). And USB obviously eliminates EMF concerns. A steal at 75 bucks...thankfully a multiple microphone, mixer system, etc (pricey) was not necessary.

Plugged it in and it just worked as I had hoped. Reaches to the center of the conference table and now everyone remote can hear much better.

Bought this item for our office conference room. We use Skype to video conference people into our meetings and noticed that the microphone on the HD camera was not picking up voices from people sitting across the room. Or when people would turn their heads away from the camera and speak.Hooked this conference mic up and instantly noticed a difference. The sound quality is great, whether you are across the room or have your head turned from the screen. And the setup was easy, plug in, go to Control Panel -> Sound Devices and set the microphone to this device (and make sure to go to Advanced settings and turn up the mic volume). Also bought a USB extender ($10 for a 10 meter cord on Amazon) so we can place on the conference table. But honestly, you can sit it by the tv with the camera and it still picks up voices clearly. |
