Product Description

The M-108 provides extreme control over the ten most crucial frequencies for guitar. But that’s not all. With separate input gain and output volume sliders, the M-108 also provides a ridiculous amount of level control.

5.0 out of 5 stars bullet-proof versatility December 18, 2009
I bought this for bass, so I could take down tones that would compete with guitarists and bring the bass up to a dynamic level that would mesh well in a group. I have been playing on this for a year now, and I highly recommend it for bassists

That being said, I also dabble in guitar, and this pedal is amazing in the respect as well. It brings out a lot of nice tones, and when you couple it with any other effects, especially distortion, you open up a whole realm of different sounds. My guitarist had been staring at mine for a while and the other day I let him try it out. I nearly had to pry it from his fingers. He had been trying for ages to bring out a certain sound using just his Amplifier EQ knobs, but when he tried this he nearly broke down in tears because he could finally dial in exactly what he was looking for, and he could modify that sound to his liking as well.

This is a very effective pedal for Bass, Guitar, and for vocals! I have a mic that requires phantom power, but I have found that running it through this gives it enough boost to record into my non-phantom computer interface.

Versatile, well constructed and easy to use. I feel one mistake I made was not getting the KFK version with two outputs, but this is a professional piece of equipment and I guarantee that in 5 minutes anyone will find a setting that brings their sound out in amazing ways.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you know how to use EQ, this box is ROCK SOLID December 19, 2012
By ac0214
First of all, I use this as more of a 6 band EQ using the lower and highest more for LP and HP filters. The middle four have the most dramatic effect on the tone. You can also use this as boost box, using the gain and volume sliders. The box is solid and fairly easy to manipulate on stage, but I tend to set and forget.

In reviewing other posts maybe these bullets may be helpful.

-If you turn your gain way up, you will have hiss. Period, this holds true for any effect box or amp that has a gain on it that I have been exposed to. Have a reason for upping your gain, if it is to add volume consider doing this on your guitar or amp.

-EQ is to ENHANCE your tone, not create it! A Strat cannot be made to sound like a Les Paul and vice versa. Your tone is made up of many, many variables. The resulting tone can be SHAPED or COLORED by adding or subtracting certain frequencies. That is the function of an EQ, nothing more. IT can range from dramatic to very subtle. Very small changes can have large effects. Small bumps in the higher range really enhance the harmonics I am able to produce.

-I tend to put the EQ in much later in my effect chain, but feel free to experiment.

5.0 out of 5 stars MXR 10band eq January 29, 2011
This is yet another stunning piece of MXR equipment suitable for live performance. Ten designated bands of EQ adjustment with easy to use LED-lit sliders. Volume and gain faders, foot operated on-off push button control, all in MXR's typically rugged housing. Clean, effective EQing. Great for bringing out just the right frequencies on guitar, bass, keys, etc. Requires 18v negative center power. At $100 a perfectly functional to-the-point piece.

Perhaps overkill for my application. My guitar needed a slight mid punch and this provides it in spades.with very little manipulation.
