BEST distortion pedal for metalheadz!!,
This review is from: MXR DD-11 Dime Distortion Pedal (Electronics)
A well-built, 18V (as opposed to normal 9V by brands like Boss) distortion pedal, 3band EQ and the Mid-Notch "Scoop" bottom, the sound of this pedal is HUGH, you can cut thru anything with this!! I've a Boss Metalzone before, but i quit using it after having one of this, Metalzone sound tiny before this unit, you can tune it and make it sound just like "Walk", "This Love" or whichever tunes that Dimebag played on, but the fact is this DIME Distortion is not a "Pantera-fans-only" pedal, the EQ is real sensitive, and with the Scoop, the tonal possibilities is endless, just listen to your favourite metal band CD, and twist the EQ, right there you can have the same sound from your favourite guitarist. And if you work this with a good volume pedal, like a Ernie Ball Stereo 25k Pedal, you can fine-tune the gain using the volume pedal, your flashy solo will cut thru anything like army knife.
if you are into heavy rhythm, high gain solo, loud yet thick distorted guitar tone, BUY THIS. i just can't find any distortion pedal out there have the gain as high, but still sound as good!!

Great Rythym Pedal!,

This review is from: MXR DD-11 Dime Distortion Pedal (Electronics)
Well first of all I'm a distortion pedal collector, I now have a dozen or so pedals and I love this pedal for that tight gritty serrated blade knife cutting sound that you feel in your spine when you start riffing away! WOO! BUT it's not a solo pedal and it's verstility in sound is for the rythym work only. The pedal has no sustain but it's perfect! I use another pedal for the soloing, so buy it with that in mind. I would've saved alot of money if I'd bought this one first. You'll be able to find the sound you want from this pedal, especially if you invest in a 10 band EQ pedal (maybe an MXR, but that's just me), but it's all you'll need to shape your sound ... trust me, I have every distortion pedal worth any value. Mainly for the Rock genre though.

Rock'n Roll, baby!,

"This is the story of a tiny little box of green metal..."
This pedal is astonishing! Just put the gain at the max, press the switch and the little grey button, and you sound almost like Dimebag himself! For everyone who thinks it will deliver exactly the same heavy loud blast we can here on the Pantera records, do not forget that Dimebag was using this pedal plus another one, and everything was plugged in a dual Randall amplifier. But the idea is clearly there! The razorsharp riffs this little magic box can deliver are just great, even on a small amp (I'm using a Fender 25W). It sounds like Dimebag, but it's only one of the possibilities of the DD-11. Of course it's designed for hardrock and heavy metal players, but not only for people who want to play some Pantera tracks. It suits to almost every time of heavy distortion. A must-have
