This REALLY nails the tone of the univibe, at a fraction of the price. I guess the part I don't understand is, although it is true bypass (I could NOT hear any tone loss when this was turned off), when it is turned on, there is an audible hiss. I tried different outlets in the house, different guitars, different guitar cables, different amps, and tried this at different spots in my pedal chain. That right there eliminates it from my live rig. And my recording rig.

But, I have to say, although this is not a high end rotovibe or univibe, they really nailed the tone and it's fun. You can get the SRV rotating leslie "Cold Shot" type of sound, or the Hendrix Star-Spangled Banner. A TON of fun, an effect definitely not for every song, but a ton of fun. This is not, however, the holy grail of univibe's..and they are getting harder and harder to find while being very expensive. I would say this is a good middle ground, and then you could try and get the pedal modded to eliminate the hiss (but beware, modding a pedal voids all warranty).

Looks like I got lucky ordering this pedal last December, as soon as I saw an add in UK Guitarist magazine. I got mine for 129 USD. Last time I checked on Amazon.com, there were two left at black market price : 299 USD! Thomann in Europe has not received them yet (February). Meanwhile, I quite enjoy the versatility of this pedal. In the "chorus" mode I easily find the famed "Machine-Gunnesque" Hendrix tone. Very convincing swoosh. Interestingly in the "Vibe" mode (top left button switched on), the pedal produces either a thick chorus-type sound at slow speed, but without the usual vibrations - it just thickens the sounds; or an insane warble at high speed (the sound I find the less useful). The pedal is now on my board as a better (I find) alternative to the MXR EVH Phaser I had instead. Question was before or after the OD. I decided for before and it sounds just fine. Whatever the hype on this pedal and the potential commercial rip-off, it is still a great pedal, and I find the design unique, like it or not. 31 years of listening to Hendrix and I love the man more than ever.

Fantastic effect. Exactly what I was looking for, and at a very reasonable price! Highly recommend it.

Also works fantastically with a Fuzz Face (Dunlop issue).
