There are some classic riggers knives that have better snob appeal but from what is available now, this is THE ONE. It's a big thing but it is very well made and functions as it should. With a little practice you can be waaaay cool and extend the blade or marlinspike like a '50s gangster with a switchblade; it isn't easy and the knife needs some breaking in, but you can sling a blade out with a flick of the wrist.
I don't know that it is really much more useful that the $20 Davis, but it is a lot cooler, and that's what you're paying for. Now, you have to either make or buy some of that ever so nautical macrame lanyand and knife pouch stuff; that nylon case just doesn't get it.

Hi We purchased this knife for my son for Christmas. It was not working correctly when we first opened it and sent it back in January for a new one. Still have not heard back from the company! Can you look into this please? Very frustrating because he has needed it the past 2 weekend for sailing-
Thank you! |
