5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, Upbeat Blend of World Rythms
My expecations were set very high for this musical release with all of the comparisons I had read of to Enigma and Deep Forest. Suprisingly I was disappointed to find this group did not sound a lot like Enigma or Deep Forest, but rather had an incredible sound of their own drawing on different world music styles. 3.0 out of 5 stars Actually, 3.5 stars....
First let me start off by saying how very disappointed I am with this album... After hearing the amazing "Lullaby" through my 'Elevation 3' compilation from Earthtone records, I had high hopes and was anxious to hear what else Chorus Of Tribes had to offer for I did and still do find "Lullaby" to be an exceptional new age/world song. But now that I actually own 'Myth' in...

My expecations were set very high for this musical release with all of the comparisons I had read of to Enigma and Deep Forest. Suprisingly I was disappointed to find this group did not sound a lot like Enigma or Deep Forest, but rather had an incredible sound of their own drawing on different world music styles. I felt this group was very sucessful, and this disk immediately became one of my favorites. If you don't believe me go to Napster and check out the music there, then buy this disk. 5 stars out of 5, 10 stars out of 10, you have to check this disk out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your wishes have been answered., October 17, 1999

If you ever wised that Deep Forest and Enigma would release a CD together, well your wish as been answered. All most at least. The sound is so amazingly true to both Enigma's & Deep Forest's earlier work, while at the same time the music has evolved to newer sounds. From beginning to end this CD is pure pleasure to the ears. Lullaby has a sound that if unsuspected, one would swear it was Enigma and Deep Forest together. With Enigmatic drum patterns and chimes, and Deep Forest rhythems and vocals, this CD would not disappoint anyone. If you are looking for the sounds of the two groups earlier work, this is the CD for you. At times the music is even better than the original groups. This CD gets an A+

4.0 out of 5 stars There's no Enigma meets Deep Forest fusion here!, April 9, 2000

Granted, the album is quite pleasent to listen to. It features nice ambient rhythms and soft tribal chants. But Enimga? No, not hardly. Enigma is more gothic and medievel sounding with harder beats and different instruments and vocals - this is nothing like their album "MCMXC.a.D."

Yes, there is SOME comparission to Deep Forest but this is more ambient and etherial in sound. I like it better than much of Deep Forest, but not near as much as I like Enigma. I highley reccomend it if you like ambient world music. But I wouldn't reccomend buying it because you think it's going to be a cross between Enigma and Deep Forest because it isn't.

But now that I actually own 'Myth' in its entirety and have listened to it on numerous occasions, I am wearily defeated and have given up all hope of it growing on me. As I was doing some cleaning the other day, however, I popped 'Myth' into the CD player and found it to be extremely relaxing to listen to while exhausting my energy.

For the most part, songs like "Into Morroco" and "Inception" flow hypnotically with sound-waves of peaceful serenity, but on songs like "LoLo" and "Rain Song", the tempo becomes exalt with subtle trance beats and African tribal singing.

I absolutely adore "Marakesh", "Myth", and especially "Hiyahiyahey", but compared to "Lullaby", the rest of this album was a sad disappointment.

'Myth' by Chorus Of Tribes wasn't a total waste of money but when it comes to buying new age/world music, I'd much rather recommend 'Boheme' by Deep Forest, whose sound is in a similar but more accomplished style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Napster has caused to search the world for this CD, May 24, 2000

Two of my favourite artists are Deep Forest and Enigma. I have all of their CD's and most singles and rare CD's.

I can easily see comparisons with both artists in "Chorus of Tribes".

The vocals in "Inception" are extremely Cretu-esqe, to the point I would nearly believe that it is Michael himself.

All in all, a very well balanced. Great world music samples. A delight to listen to from start to finish.

If it were not for Napster, I wouldn't know of Myth's existance. I am here at Amazon today to put my money on the table and get the damn CD!

Deep Forest's first CD got me addicted to World Music (see other artists such as Wes, Pangea, Dao Dezi, Michael Sanchez too).

This CD has the same addiction in a similar package.

But it today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album!, May 30, 2011

Often mistakenly thought to be a collaboration of Enya and Enigma, the album 'Myth' by Chorus of Tribes does have elements of both artists, but also has so much more of their own sound, and in my opinion, so much better than either of the aforementioned. A great album for background ambiance, driving, sleeping, or just about anything else that can be made better with excellent music. 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice music by Simon Hulbert, October 27, 2006
This review is from: MYTH (Audio CD)
From deepforestmusic.com:
"Deep Forest and Enigma have never collaborated on any music projects. There is a Russian bootleg album that claims to be by Enimga and Deep Forest. This album has also been widely circulated around the internet. The name of the album is Myth - Chorus of Tribes, composed and produced by English musician Simon Hulbert.

"Originally entitled 'Gondwanarain', in 1997 Etherean Music licenced the album and gave it a new format and name (Myth by Chorus of Tribes). The order of the tracks were changed and the album was given a more organic feel. The tracks were mixed into each other and vocal samples that appeared on the first version were no longer there (samples from speeches of JFK, Neil Armstrong, Martin Luther King, as well as others, removed because of copyright infringement)."

4.0 out of 5 stars A great album to listen to, December 20, 2002

I like this cd a lot. It does not sound like Enigam at all, but I did get this cd because people did say it sounded like Enigma and i was not disapointed. I love this cd, but my fav song is Ikkijungle and it is not long enough. It is a fast tribsl techno song and I love it. I love techno and when I heard this song, I was very pleased, until I found out it was 2:52 in length. Why kill a great song by making too short? There are too many songs out there that are ruined by being too short. Figure it out people, no one wants to listen to a short song, especially when it's good.
