MAAS Metal, etc. Polish,

This review is from: Maas Metal Polish 4 oz (Kitchen)
I was introduced to the product a couple of years ago by a son.
I usually could only get the smallest tube (2oz.), but it went far and did cleaning of metal and other items in such a way that I could never quite believe it. I have even found it to be great for cleaning a lap top screen and an old scratched pair of sun glasses. I was doing a couple of items for my wife today and she was amazed to see what it did for some old jewelry. MAAS metal polish is what I wish I had in the military years ago! You can clean a metal item that looks clean, and find your cloth black from oxidation that you couldn't see yet. Plus, it helps protect surfaces after cleaning. I should also note that the supplier was great. Low price compaired to the store and UPS express shipping.

Just hype - not as great as advertised,

I had some very badly tarnished mixed metal utensils (copper/brass) that take longer than most other metals to clean. After seeing the impressive claims made by this product, I though I would give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was no different than most of the other tarnish removers. My utensils still took forever to clean. This product is not worth the extra price.

I found this item in a store while I was despirately looking for something to clean my medals and coins. Some of them were yellowed from the oils from being handled. After taking this cream to it with a light brushing, they absolutely shined like they were new. I can now display these coins with pride. I took out my medals from the time I was in the military and they not only took a shine but I could see the detail. Something my children would be proud to see.
And then I thought I'd try it on my marked up metal scoops in the kitchen. I was so happy how beautiful they looked. I was so glad that dull appearance had changed to a new look. There is no doubt in my experience that this product has many more other things to polish that I haven't gotten to...yet. I recommend this product to anyone who wants to polish up those medals of past wars, to do some touch up on some coins (be careful, some of them could loose their value), to polish the metals that lost their shine over time and etc.

Sink and Range Hood,
This review is from: Maas Metal Polish 4 oz (Kitchen)
I used this product on my rather greasy range hood. It worked marvelously - better than the straight ammonia I used to use. The hood seems to repel grease build-up now. I also used it on my black kitchen sink that had become quite dull. It now shines and also seems to repel grime. It did not scratch the sink which was my fear. It worked well on some metals, but not on copper. I found a formula copper cleaner works much better.

No better than products such as Goddard's and Hagerty's as silver polish with tarnish inhibitors, but useful as an alternative to Brasso as brass, copper and pewter cleaner. Expensive.

Made a 100 year old sterling case look like new,

I use this to polish my silver and am very pleased with how long the finish lasts as well as the quality of the shine. I've used all the standard polishes but find this cream the best and easiest to work with. It still takes elbow grease--although not as much--and the resulting bright silver shine beats the others. I've had visitors ask how I got my silver so 'silver' with no yellowish cast at all.
I inherited some family antiques, including a silver tea set that looked pretty poor, some almost black hollowware and a totally black cigarette case, so black, in fact, it almost appeared lacquered instead of silver. All looked non-redeemable. It took some work, but the items ended up looking fabulous. I get frequent complements on the little engraved cigarette case that now carries tissues and folded bills in my purse. It's the perfect size and is indeed stunning. No one else in the family wanted these things because they were so hopelessly tarnished. I was able to reclaim the finish on each piece without damage as they would have sustained with those caustic quick-dunk liquids. And even better, the resulting polished surfaces have consistently resisted further tarnishing. My flatware still doesn't have to be redone after a year in the drawer, and although the tea set, which sits out uncovered, needs another polishing--it's been 15 months! That's almost unheard of. I was so impressed with the results on my silver, I took advantage of a special and bought three more tubes of the polish. I remember my mother and grandmother having to polish the silver before every major event and in the past, I've had to do the same, but with this polish, I no longer have to. I haven't used it on other metals and can't speak to that, but for silver, it's wonderful.

As another reviewer said, it's not a miracle cleaner, but it is very, very good. I collect antique & vintage silver & silverplate, and have found Maas consistently better than the usual grocery store brands at cleaning the often extremely tarnished pieces I find in thrift stores. Yes, they sometimes require a bit of elbow grease, especially if they're completely black, but the shine is superior to the dip-and-dunk products. It allows me to keep the detail in etched and patinated areas in a way that even other paste polishes don't. The shine also lasts much longer than with other polishes. It takes very little, so the tube goes a long way. As an added benefit, it also works well to clean & polish my clear glass bathroom sink, stainless kitchen sink & stove hood--pretty much anything that needs polishing.

Great Polishing Product,
By
This review is from: Maas Metal Polish 4 oz (Kitchen)
I have read some reviews from disappointed customers regarding this product. I wonder what they have compared this product to, since my experiences with this product have been so fantastic. Everything that I have attempted to use it on has had such great results that I do not think I'd ever waste my time with other products though honestly I haven't tried very many. From the brass door on my wood stove to my old silverware this product has not failed to remove old tarnish and restore the shine. It does take a bit of elbow grease for severly tarished items, but smearing the product and letting it sit a bit before rubbing has cut down on some of the needed hand buffing. A very little dab of the product goes a very long way.

Just for starters we tried MAAS polish on the copper bottoms of 40 year old Revere Ware cooking Pots that had never been polished. Easy on easy off and it shines like new. This stuff is great.
