Takes about 90 seconds to register, but the voice tells you when it's done. Close enough to my B-D oral glass-&-mercury thermometer (the gold standard of accuracy) to be accepted. They point out that temperatures under the tongue do vary, depending on where you hold it, and they're right, but if you get it in the "hot spot" and hold it there, it's within one-tenth of one degree.4 stars -- not 5 -- because it's not the easiest to hold in the right position, because of its shape. If you can live with that then go ahead and get one -- if not, get the infrared ear temperature model for 30-some dollars -- you'll be happier. 'Nuf said. Update: just can't get it to stay in place long enough to get consistent readings -- returned -- get the infrared ear model!

Wonderful!,

I love this thermometer. I love that it talks so I can use it no matter what the lighting conditions, and I don't have to squint. My husband needs reading glasses and often can't find them. He was very happy with his present. It works well. It repeats twice more what the reading was. There is no memory of past temps, but a pencil and piece of paper solves that.

I like the fact that this talks. Not just an cute extra but lets you know when your done and very useful for those who's eyes aren't what they used to be. It has a great price tag too.
