The Mac Bible Goodies Pack, prepared to supplement The Macintosh Bible 6th Edition, contains two CD-ROMs. Disc 1 boasts over 400 megabytes of demos of commercial products from the full range of important suppliers of Mac software, including Adobe (Photoshop, PageMaker and PageMill), Macromedia (Director, FreeHand and Extreme 3-D), and Claris (FileMaker Pro, ClarisWorks). We've also included time-limited versions of indispensable Internet utilities, like Web Quick (with a discount coupon applicable to the purchase of the full version), DragNet, and PageSpinner. There's a good selection of entertainment and educational software as well, including Flight Unlimited and A.D.A.M.: The Inside Story. For the graphically-inclined, we've provided a gallery of royalty-free samples of clip art and stock photos from half a dozen vendors (over 150 megabytes' worth), and we've supplied 30 megabytes of high-quality sound files from Earshot SFX, suitable for use in multimedia projects. Finally, the disc includes the complete text of The Macintosh Bible 6th Edition, in the form of an Adobe Acrobat file (the Acrobat Reader software is provided). The whole collection is introduced by a simple, yet attractive multimedia interface that guides the user through the content of the CD, whose organization reflects that of the book. Disc 2 is the Fall 1996 BMUG PD-ROM, one of the most comprehensive shareware collections available anywhere. It is compiled by the staff of Berkeley-based BMUG, Inc., the largest Macintosh user group in the world, and is revised and updated semi-annually to keep pace with the ever-changing world of Macintosh free-and shareware.
