Maria Langer's Mac OS X 10,5 Leopard is excellent for detailed information, presented straightforwardly and without embellishment. Contrast it to David Pogue's "Mac OS X Leopard--The Missing Manual, which is, as ever, wildly entertaining, but somewhat less effective in presentation.

I bought this book because I wanted to solve some problems- lost e-mails, "recovered files," integration with [...] (Mobile Me). All I got was some basic "how to's." Stuff anyone knows these days. Seven hundred pages for a "Quick Start Guide?" You've got to be kidding.

Langer's book allows you to look up something quickly, while Pogue's is more of a good (tech) read at the beach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best MAC OS X Book, May 27, 2008

This review is from: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard: Visual QuickStart Guide (Paperback)
We purchased several other OS X 10.5 books but this one is the best by far. The book is structured for learning and reference with examples and text on the same page. The book also demonstrates just about any thing you may want to do in concise straight forward language with clear examples. For the beginner or intermediate this book is excellent.

I own several Visual Quickstart Guides. This book is very well done.. like most of them. This is a great non-sense book on "how to" do the most common tasks in Leopard. Well worth the money.

So far this MAC manual has been very helpful. I have returned to a MAC after years with an HP PC. I definitely needed a refresher/new info. course that Apple doesn't provide themselves.I can highly recommend this easy to read manual. It's nice to have a BOOK I can refer to anytime! (good pics too).

I like Maria Langer's book "Mac OS 10.5 Leopard," it's better than the Mac book "Mac OS X Leopard - The Missing Manual" by David Pogue. Maria's is more user friendly than David's.
(I don't know what "Tag" means.)
