Mac Newbie,
By Island Mom (Lopez Island, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Mac OS X Leopard Book (Paperback)
When a 25 year pc user switches to a Mac there is a definite learning curve. This book was a great place to start. I found many of the shortcuts that Mac users already know, but I couldn't find readily listed anywhere on my Mac. Long time users might find this boring, but it was quite helpful to me as a new user. Good screen photos support the hints and tips, so it's very easy to understand. No long boring explanations, just nice short snippets.

This book like of of Scott's prior writings is the perfect size and is on a level when anyone can sit down find what they want and get back to what they were doing. Even if reading it as book instead of as a reference it is set up in short chapters so that nothing feels overwhelming. It might be a good idea to have some paper and a pen to takes notes though.

I've Read Most of the OS X/Leopard Books ... BUY THIS ONE!,
By Tim Warneka "Leadership Expert, Keynote Speak... (Cleveland, OH USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Mac OS X Leopard Book (Paperback)
I'm a new Mac user. Over the past 6 months, I've read most of the OS X books currently on the market. (I'm a geek that way ;-)
In my opinion, for a new mac user, this books is the best one. Scott writes simply, plainly and uses easy-to-understand terms. (Plus, his pictures are fun to look at!). If you want to go waaaay under the hood of OS X, then get this book:Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing Manual. If you just want to get up and running quickly, then buy Scott's book. Thanks, Scott! Keep those great books coming! Scott Kelby is an excellent writer i have a bunch of his books, but this book is more of the same thing. It is good for new users to the mac but if you have been using a mac for some time skip it and get something that has more in depth info on the mac.

Good for New Users,

First, let me say I am a big fan of Scott Kelby's books and have several of them, however, this book was a little too basic for me. This is a good book for new users, but if you have been using a Mac even for a short time, get something more in depth.

I recently ordered my first Apple - a MacBook Pro and ordered the OS X Leopard book at the same time. This guide is just what the new Mac user needs. The format of one task to one page makes it a great flip open "quick-start" guide. The book isn't expensive, it's easy to read and navigate, and it's just fun. If you are brand new to the Mac, I can't recommend this book highly enough!

Great Resource For The Mac OS,
By J. Aubrey (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Mac OS X Leopard Book (Paperback)
I'm a new MacBook user and not especially sophisticated, just email, pictures, internet and some word processing. After years of frustration with PCs I find the Mac a revelation--stable, intuitive and packed with innovative features.
I bought a few books to speed my transition and this is the best one. Each glossy page succinctly describes a separate task or a list of related tips (except for the rather lame chapter introductions). It's great fun to browse and I learned many things about the OS I wouldn't have otherwise picked up, at least not as quickly. This comprehensive but pithy guide is for the beginner/intermediate user and highly recommended.

Great for Mac Newbies,
By Party Entertainer "JH" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Mac OS X Leopard Book (Paperback)
I have several Scott Kelby books and I love them all. This book will get you using the imac quickly. As the author writes it is not an intense manual on any one feature. Once your up and running you can decide which other more intense single subject books you require for your particular needs. Given the screen shots on each page I can even read the book away from my computer and still follow along. Highly recommended.

This is a good book for someone just starting out with a Mac. If you are new to Macs and in general do not feel comfortable with the Mac this is the book for you. If you are willing to read the PDF manual that is downloadable you will see that the information in the book is available for free on line.
