This book shows how to take advantage of GarageBand and exploit it to the fullest.

GarageBand helps you turn your Mac into a fully-functional recording studio. The newest member of the iLife suite comes with pre-recorded loops utilizing hundreds of musical instruments to enable you to sound like a symphony orchestra or a one-man band. GarageBand ships with only limited documentation and that's where this book fills the gap. The MacAddict Guide to Making Music with GarageBand shows you how to create, perform and record your own music, even if you can't read a note or play an instrument - you can easily produce tunes that sound like you can! If you are musically inclined, this book shows you how to hook up your instruments and record your own sound, then you can mix it with as many other instruments as you want for a truly professional result. Once you have your tunes mixed to perfection, you can use them to score your iMovie projects, your iPhoto slide shows, and your iDVD projects. The MacAddict Guide to Making Music with GarageBand teaches you how to do all of that - and much more!

2.0 out of 5 stars Just The Basics, Ma'am, April 12, 2007

This review is from: The MacAddict Guide to Making Music with GarageBand (Paperback)
After fooling around with GarageBand for a month I was hoping to find a book of "tricks and tips" to further my exploration. Unfortunately this book isn't it -- it covers just the entry-level instructions I'd already figured out.

Maybe the authors knew more than they're telling, but there's nothing in this book which couldn't be gleaned from reading the help files.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey, You. Make a Joyful Noise., August 24, 2004
This review is from: The MacAddict Guide to Making Music with GarageBand (Paperback)
You wanna make noises, NOW, that are as cool as you need 'em to be?
Ask Jay.

He'll guide you past those few little rocks and bumps in GarageBand that might otherwise pop a hole in your Creative Ship...How much memory do I _really_ need? What does that menu _really_ mean? C'mon, I wanna make NOISES!!!

And Jay will let you know. And you will be a noisemaker, and you will no longer be able to blame your parents because they wouldn't let you have an accordion.

Much Love to you loud people,
Great Respect to Jay,
The Fat Man
