In Acts 8:26-39 when Philip ran to the Ethiopian eunuch and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, Philip asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" "How can I," the Ethiopian said, "unless someone explains it to me?" Philip explained the Scrptures to him and "told him the good news about Jesus." The Ethiopian responded by being baptized and rejoicing. I FEEL THE STRUGGLE LIKE THE ETHIOPIAN IN UNDERSTANDING SCRIPTURE. WHEN I READ THE JOHN MACARTHURS COMMENTARIES I RESPOND THE SAME WAY AND YOU WILL TOO WITH MUCH REJOICING AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

John Macarthur is a man who loves the truth of scriptures very much. His confidence in the Bible is what makes him one of the bravest and best Bible teachers of the time. These commentaries are very very good. It is like having J.M sitting there with you. There is no ideas or opinions in these books, it is all truth, because as John says the Bible is clear and true. Praise God for people like John who stand up and fight for the truth, in this age of deception!

John MacArthur will go down in church history with the likes of Augustine, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Charles Spurgeon, George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, etc. John's life work lies ready to be tapped by all those concerned with accurately expositing God's Word. I was priveleged to study underneath John MacArthur at the Master's College and to sit underneath his teaching at Grace Community Church for many years. John's humility has always struck me as his most amazing characteristic as a pastor, teacher and President of The Master's College and The Master's Seminary. One of his life's goals is to complete this entire N. T. commentary series before the Lord takes him home. Lord, bless your church by allowing this commentary series to be completed through empowering John MacArthur with grace and longevity as he continues to diligently serve Your church through the exposition of Your Holy Scriptures.

We ordered this set for our son who just started in his first Senior Pastor position. He was absolutely thrilled to receive it, having used it before at other locations but not owning a set of his own. We had asked him to recommend something to us that we could give him that would support his ministry and he suggested we could send him a few volumes as a starter set, so when all 29 arrived he was quite happy. Shipping was handled quickly and the books arrived in perfect condition. Great experience ... thanks!

Obviously I haven't read this entire set--that would take years--but I have used them quite a bit as I prepare to preach, teach, and write. This is a scholarly set that provides tons of information, including commentary, background information, character profiles, word studies, and cross references. I have recommended this set to many people, and I have benefitted from it greatly.

Apart from the God-authored Holy Bible, the MacArthur New Testament Commentary is the greatest series of books in the history of the written word!

Dr. John MacArthur has been pastor of Grace Community Church in Los Angeles since 1969. During that time, he has preached verse-by-verse through the entire New Testament. The commentary chapter divisions are (essentially) derived from those individual sermons.

The essence of John MacArthur's credibility is his unswerving devotion to the Divine inspiration (authorship), absolute inerrancy, and complete authority of the Bible. Since the Bible is the true and infallible written revelation of God to mankind, Dr. MacArthur has said: "The only logical response to inerrant Scripture is to preach it expositionally. By that, I mean preaching in such a way that the meaning of the Bible passage is presented entirely and exactly as it was intended by God." This commitment results in content that is consistently and faithfully evangelical, because, as he explains: "Over the years of teaching the word of God without a lot of presuppositions, I tend to conclude whatever I believe the exegetical process yields."

But, although MacArthur has successfully disentangled himself from the straightjacket of agenda-driven or tradition-mandated, outcome-based theology--paying no tribute to conformity with any human opinion--he is by no means a doctrinal libertine. He is manifestly committed to declaring "the whole purpose of God" (Acts 20:27), and yet equally determined "not to exceed what is written" (2 Corinthians 4:6).
