The MacMost.com Guide to Switching to the Mac by Gary Rosenzweig is the book I wish I could have read a couple years back when I bought a MacBook.

I heard all of the Mac fanboy chatter about "once you go Mac, you never go back." But I got it, played with it, preferred the PC and went back.

The MacBook was nicely designed, but I was underwhelmed by it after all the hype. In the afterglow of experimenting with it, the MacBook has largely been a coaster for my drinks.

But after reading MacMost.com Guide to Switching to the Mac, I have to reconsider the Mac.

Back when I bought my MacBook, I was excited to edit video with it and got a "Quickstart Guide for iMovie." But those hundreds of pages didn't give me much of a quick start.

Then I looked at this MacMost.com Guide and found the simple basics for iMovie in just a couple pages. And that's typical of this book... it covers all of the questions and issues I had back then about moving over from a PC.

One thing I liked a lot about the MacBook was the built-in camera. I've had a couple Dell laptops with the built-in camera and they didn't measure up for recording video.

Anyhow, I am thinking of giving this Mac thing another try because of this book.

This is a well-written reference book for a first-time mac user. I love the organization of the book. I plan to read it in my downtime, but I also think it is great in order to come back to a specific area or topic. Apple offers a user session when you purchase your Mac, but a text tutorial is great for someone who would like to learn a Mac on his or her own time. In addition, this is much cheaper than the session Apple offers.
I recommend this for anyone switching to a Mac. I plan to share this with my father who is also switching to Apple.

I'm normally a fan of David Pogue's "Missing Manual" series books but have enjoyed Gary Rosenzweig's podcasts enough that I gave his book a try. As I'm a long-time Mac user, I actually bought the books as gifts for 3 friends who recently switched from Windows to Mac. So far all have enjoyed the book's tips and have commented that it is well-written.

I've been following Gary for some time now listening to his podcasts and going to his website. With this book as a trilogy, he adds his clear, succinct, easy to understand information. I have learned more from Gary than I have from Apple sites, Googling, and Apple One to One sessions. This is a must have; it's also a great gift to give even people who know how to use the computer already; there is a lot of great information. Thanks Gary!!!

Having purchased my first Apple Mac it was straight down to the library to look for books on the subject. I was lucky, they had just brought in a copy of MacMost and it set my mind at rest straight away. I can honestly say it is the first ''user guide'' I have read that directs me to a problem and provides an answer.

After following the author Gary Rosenzweig on the iTunes podcast from MacMost Now,its a real bliss to have the book to explore all the magic in the OSX snow leopard.
This book is a must for a Mac user or the Windows user who is thinking of switching to the Mac.
The book reads like a charm and you discover all kind of features you prob did'n even know they where in Leopard.
If you have a Mac get this book,if you don't have a Mac also get this book and see what your missing...
Lots of notes and pictures and awesome tips by the author.
Don't miss this before they are sold out!!!!

Love my iMac, my 1st ever Apple product. For 2+ years it's been mostly a good experience and where it has seemed difficult, exasperating, challenging, honorary, I usually discover much to my chagrin, I've had a hand in the matter. That said I recently upgraded the operating system to Snow Leopard. As usual it was easy and the results were immediately noticeable. But, having experienced my conversion and initiation to mac using a GIANT guide book, I wanted something easier to navigate, comprehensive, and able to be lifted with one hand.

This is it. Buy it, you'll use it and you'll like it. Besides, Gary Rosenzweig, who I don't know, runs one of the best sites on the web for help with things Apple.

Lots of good information even for the experienced PC folks to make the change over.

Enjoy his podcasts and decided to try it. I had switched about 8 months ago and did much research and learning of the Mac OS. It wasnt as useful for me as i had already learned many things myself. BUT, This book puts together in one place lots of good information. I will be giving it to my mom as she just got a macbook and is a newbie. this should help her greatly.

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I heard about it. I subscribe to Gary's Rosenzweig's podcasts, I really enjoy how he presents information so I figured the book would probably be a winner. I was right!

The book is on my desk as I write this. You can certainly sit and read the book cover to cover, but to be honest my attention span doesn't allow this. My idea of a perfect book is well organized chapters, short well written paragraphs with lots of pictures (screenshots) thrown in the mix. I think this is a must have reference book for new switchers and experienced Mac users.
