It's white, it's cheap, and it's made for the iPod. Those are the most important things. Just tote along the firewire cable that came with your iPod, and plug it right into the PodCig. The blue light is a little bright at first, but rotate the thing upside-down, and it becomes a slick accent light for an iPod underneath.

Highly recommended for iTrip owners, whose FM transmitters run off of the iPod's battery. Those with the Belkin TuneCast might want to look into Belkin's adapter, which will power both your iPod and the TuneCast.

Also, since this is essentially just a cigarette lighter to firewire convertor, it will work with any generation iPod, as well as probably any other portable device with a firewire cable.

Macally's charger is a simple solution for charging your iPod while in the car (or on airplanes equipped with a PowerPort). You will need a Firewire cable to connect the iPod to the charger! This is important as 4G iPods do not ship with this cable. If you have the cable, this is a five-star product that does exactly what it says. It has a cool blue light that shines while it is charging--and reminding you that you are hooked up. It will fully charge an iPod in just a few hours.

If you are thinking about a more elaborate car set-up for your iPod there are options that combine a FM transmitter, a cradle, and a power adapter that would make this device unneeded.

Bottom line: four stars for function and design.

I bought this Adapter because I could use the cable that came with iPOD, (one fewer thing to carry). Well, about six months after opening this item, I noticed that my iPOD was running on battery. One of the contacts had broken, and the device was not working anymore. I am disappointed, but should have expected that for the $10 I spent.

I wanted an cigarette lighter power adapter for my iPod but this must be for the old fire wire version. My ipod cord is USB... This was usless to me! I am sure it works fine if you have a Fire Wire cable! Double check this before you make the purchace.

After a few weeks of happily resting seated in it's plug, the spring loaded sides that keep it firmly in place gave out. Now it just pops out of the cigarette lighter hole. Spend a little extra and buy brand name with warranty.
