Processing credit cards just got a lot easier and with the secure head reader, all swiped credit card transactions are encrypted before they are passed from the card reader to the iPhone/iPod touch. SwipeIt has an adjustable spring loaded support system that provides the maximum flexibility for all form factors of existing and future iPhones and iPods - One Size Fits All! Supports Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. It works with your existing merchant services account or sign up with a new marchant service provider. SwipeIt app is available to download on Apple App Store. It has adjustable spring-loaded arm to support wide range of iPhone and iPod touch sizes. AC adaptor included.

Be aware that this product will cost you over $400 in fees per year to use!
Before you buy this item, there is some important information you should be aware of. The way the listing reads it seems like you would just hook this up to your iphone and swipe a credit or debit card and through the magic of the internet you are paid and your customer is charged. That is how I thought the Swipe It would work but no, there are two steps you must complete before using your swipe it.
STEP ONE: They mention this but don't give much, here is what you need to know.
Before you can use this device you need to set up a merchant credit card account with a credit card processing company. There are many to choose from but do your research as there are all kinds of fees these guys charge. Once you find a credit card processor it takes about two days before they open your account. Mine wound up costing me about $10 a month ($120 annually) and a per transaction fee of $0.15.
Great, your all setup now, you have your new Merchant credit card processing account and your swipe it card terminal, you are ready to start ringing in those new credit card sales! Wrong, getting your merchant account means your ready for step 2.
STEP TWO:This one they don't mention at all.
In the manual it says to go to the swipe it website and register and set up your account. This is when you find out that your Swipe it card reader is actually part of a company called Simply epay. Guess what? you need to open a simply epay gateway account which makes your swipe it card reader work with your new credit card processor. Here is the real kicker, you pay $20 per month which is $240 per year a one time setup fee of $15 ($255 first year) plus $0.15 per transaction. They are more expensive than the credit card processing company and you don't even need them if you use a similar swiper device from your credit card processor.
No where does it say this in the Macally SwipeIt Secure Credit Card Terminal product listing how much this product really costs to use. So due to the fact that you will need to pay over $400 per year to use this product I gave them a zero for being really sneaky and I think dishonest with their non-disclosure. There are much better solutions out there than this one. I signed up with a Merchant Credit Card Processor that had their own version of this product without the gateway fee and $50 cheaper. This saved me over $255 by not using this product.
I loved the build quality of this product it feels great and holds your Ipod Touch or Iphone very securely, too bad you have to pay the Gateway fee of $240 per year to use it. That folks is money you are throwing away,
