Here's the deal. I bought this because it was one of the few controllers that stated it was made for a Mac computer. To be specific an iMac I7 27 inch. I know that most controllers that are USB should work with a Mac but I wanted to be extra careful and get the one that said right on the item listing that it is compatible with Mac.

So I purchase the controller and it arrives at my house in pristine condition. I love it because it feels just like my PS3 controller. I plug it in and download the drivers, reboot and I am able to go through the system preferences and test all the buttons. Everything looks good.

I load up Borderlands, Game of the Year Edition, and find that the controller is not being recognized. I go through every setup menu and screen there is but there is no option to configure a gamepad. It appears that it is just supposed to work, which it doesn't. After scowering all apple help files/pages, Borderlands support pages, and Macally support pages, there is nothing that suggests any way to get this to work. Multiple reboots had no effect as well.

As a last ditch effort I bring my PS3 controller into my computer room and connect it to my mac via USB. Low and behold it works! I unplug the usb cable and wallah! I am now using my PS3 controller wirelessly, through Bluetooth, with Borderlands on my Mac. There's a YouTube video out there to show you how to do this but simply plug in via USB, press PS3 button to pair, and disconnect USB.

Long story short - this controller doesn't work with Borderlands for the Mac. I will be honest and say that I didn't try any other games, but it didn't look good. I'll probably just use my PS3 controller for my Mac until I run into one it won't work for. If you have a PS3 controller, save yourself some time and money and connect it up to your mac. It will work like a charm.

Tried with Left 4 Dead / Left 4 Dead 2 / Call of Duty 4.

Did not work.

Bought it as the Apple Web Site and Amazon states it works with the iMAC.

Looks nice, feels nice, but does not work

I'm very pleased. So far it has worked with all Mac games I've tried: X-Plane 9 (the prime reason I wanted a gamepad), HyperTank, StuntMani, RC Helicopter Simulator, Colin McRae Rally, Flat Out 2 and Halo.

I even get the 'rumble,' with the one programs I have that supports that feature (Colin McRae Rally). After many years of having a Mac computer it's something new to have access to so many games and this is my first such gamepad and/or joystick thing. And it's fun and quite a new experience at the computer: real video arcade quality with some of these programs.

On the Mac it installs itself on the System Preference Panel, so you can check that all the buttons and sticks work. The Big Warning -- thought -- is not with the gamepad but not all the software programs are so clear about how to set it up, assign the sticks (um...especially the 3-year old Helicopter simulator was a hassle to get right and still seems 'too sensitive,').

So setup for each program will take a little learning and I'd check to be sure the program says it will work with a gamepad (Bioshock Demo, for example, seems to indicate it only work with the X-box gamepad)

But, the iShockX, itself: 5-stars; plug and play; it works.

After 25 years of using PC's I decided to buy a Macbook Pro. Great machine, anyway, I wanted to play some games on it and I had played tomb raider back in the days. I need a gamepad to go with it. I saw good reviews on this one, ordered one and received it, it didn't work. I called Macally tech support and they told me my gamepad was bad and to get a return. I contacted Amazon and within an hour I had a prepaid return label and a new one that had been shipped. Got the new one, worked the first time. Took a little while to get used to the controls but it works fine!

I was excited about this game pad. But found out that most games that I have bought for my Mac do not support it. It not the Game Pads fault, but the game software companies not making their games compatible with game controllers. Works well with Prince of Persia for Mac. I would not buy again, to much investment for little play time.

This has to be the worst item I have bought in a long time.
I bought this to play Call Of Duty 4 on MacBookPro. The device arrives without any drivers and is not recognised by the system or by the game. Macally website states no support for intel mac's.
Bugger.

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro, running on a 64 Bit Intel Core i7 processor. I tried playing FIFA 12 on this machine with this controller, only to find that the button configuration is all messed up. I then proceeded to download the driver from macally.com tech support to try and change the button config thru 'System preferences'. Lo and behold, the device isnt recognized!! Turns out the driver only works for a 32-bit processor computer, and not for 64 bit. I am returning this product, because I have no interest in using products from a tech company that hasn't updated its drivers since 2010.

Ok, well guys I figured out how to make this controller work properly for my Macbook. When I received it in the mail, with my COD 4, it wouldn't work, and I uploaded the software and what not, and still no luck. Then I watched a vid on youtube about how to hook-up a xbox 360 controller, and it showed that you can upload an app off the Mac-App Store called "Gamepad companion". So, with a hunch I bought it for I think $7.99, but anyways I calibrated the controls to how you would for PS3. It only took me no even 20 minutes to get it all good-to-go and saved the layout to GC, and now here I am playing it everyday, no problem at all. Try it, I got it to work, and so should you!

This product may be a great product for other systems, but on my macbook pro, i discovered to my dismay that this product is incompatible with 64-bit computers, yet the technical specs, have no little note of that detail. I didn't find this out until i downloaded and installed the driver and it said that it will not work for my computer. For anyone with a 64-bit computer, stay away and save yourself the headache. There was no way to find out about that detail until i had the driver. It isn't even on Macally's website. I am now forced to return it immediately and fight for a refund.
