3.0 out of 5 stars MacArthur in the Pacific, August 1, 2004

This review is from: Macarthur in the Pacific: From the Philippines to the Fall of Japan (Paperback)

The author characterizes MacArthur as egotistical and pompous, and attributes much of his fame to his deft manipulation of the press and public opinion. Nevertheless, MacArthur is an important historical figure. Several of his and other relevant speeches are quoted in the text, which makes interesting reading.

This book is heavy on photographs, many of which are not widely published. One major drawback is several are captioned inacurately, which detracts from the book.
