I've been playing this in a regular senior English class. Many of the students are finally understanding the play. The actors in this cd do a wonderful job interpreting their lines. The Scottish accents are well done. Sound effects make it vivid. It's the best production I've found to date.

This series is wonderful if you are a teacher. It really helps students to hear how Shakespeare's words are supposed to flow when spoken by classically trained actors. Students snicker a bit at first when they hear the Scottish accents, but they get used to them quickly and the quality of the recording is excellent. The cheesy music in between acts is irritating, but you learn to ignore it. A fun bit of trivia is that the porter scene is acted by David Tennant who most people know as the current Dr. Who! It's also a treat to be able to listen to Macbeth in my car. Shakespeare makes rush-hour almost tolerable.

This CD is excellent--the witches are super creepy sounding, and the unabridged text is well performed. Definitely helpful for teaching Macbeth.

The CD brings the play to life especially for young people who may not be accustomed to Shakeaspeare's style. I am home schooling my 15 year old grandson and am a retired teacher who often taught literature in high school. I find that having the student read a few scenes, then discussing those scenes and then following in the text while playing those same scenes for them to listen, makes them realize the depth of the text as well as the beauty of the language.

This is probably the best of the highly erratic Arkangel Complete Edition of the Shakespeare plays. There's hardly a weak point in the cast with both the central and supporting roles authoritatively rendered. Hugh Ross is superb in the title role and Harriet Walker is almost as sure-footed as Lady Macbeth. The supernatural elements are vividly represented with the atmosphere strongly sustained throughout. David Tennant's Drunken Porter is far too hammy but that's a small flaw beside the overall excellence of this version. Buy with confidence.

This is a wonderful production of The Tragedy of Macbeth. I have used it to good effect in the classroom and find the Scottish accents to be authentic. This is worth a listen for anyone curious about the play, or for educators who want an authentic "Northern" version of the play.

Like all of the Arkangel Shakespeare series, this production is super, but I'd especially praise the gatekeeper: he gives a truly amazing, Oscar-worthy performance, proof indeed that there are no small roles in Shakespeare.

I use this audio recording in my high school English classes. The acting is well done, and the music adds to the atmosphere in the classroom as we listen. A very good recording of Macbeth.

As a homeschooled family, this was perfect to squeeze in a little more education out of long, boring car rides. The accents were wonderful! The sound effects were very believable. After a crack of lightening on the CD, several of us jumped and looked to the sky.

Excellent. This was my favourite. The sound effects are spectacular and the voices of the characters executed well. I love the thunder and lightning which are well placed as in the text. the children LOVE this audio book. It really brought the text to life. I would DEFINITELY recommend this.
