Excellent dark German metal tied to the 80s but with a modern edge,

This review is from: Macbeth (Audio CD)
Macbeth was born in the former East Germany (in Erfurt) in the mid-80s and went through the enormous obstacles true metal warriors had to face when banned by the communist government. The band was disbanded several times, attempted a name-change (touring for several years as CAIMAN), and now have finally released a full-length CD after years of underground tapes. The CD contains a couple songs from the old days redone anew, but primarily seems to be new material. The music is heavy and dark, reflecting the sombre lyrics that are very interesting. The lyrics are in German, but if you don't speak German you can still enjoy it, and perhaps ask a friend to translate them for you. True metal all the way, from a band that has never wavered from the path despite the years and obstacles, it is rare indeed to find a band like this anymore. Highly recommended!
