Despite the fact that this item lists Apple item numbers in its title, it is NOT an apple power supply. It is a knockoff made to look very similar - the entire design, the gray type, etc.

You would think from its design that its two-pronged tip could be replaced with a grounded three-pronged receptacle, just like the apple power supply. The grounded cord that comes with Apple power supplies can be used , but it will NOT ground this unit, because the metal piece that conveys the ground in apple's unit is replaced by a plastic one in this. As a result, when you use this unit to charge an aluminum laptop you are likely to feel a funny buzzing/tickling vibration when you lightly move your fingers along the laptop's chassis, whereas you would not if it were properly grounded. This doesn't affect the computer (I don't think) but I personally find the sensation annoying.

I take off one star for lack of grounding and another for the fact that the company tries to pass it off as an Apple product, or at least makes no effort to keep a buyer from reasonably concluding (incorrectly) that it is a genuine Apple product.

Still, if these things don't disturb you it seems like a good deal. It worked fine out of the box. It remains to be seen how well it holds up.

This product does not produce the power required to run the laptop without a battery.
Meaning, it will slowly charge up a battery that has power, but if there is no battery or the battery is out of power, it does not produce the promised 80W you need for the 15" macbook pro.
Also, gets very hot and causes a strange electrical current to run through the laptop that is easily felt when touching the surface of the computer.

I just got this item and only two days after using it my computer shut down completly. The computer got very hot and did not turn on any more. Only after disconnecting the charger and waiting for several hours for the computer to cool down I could turn it on again. I strongly advice you to buy the real item.

I thought bait & switch was illegal, but amazon still hasn't made them change the picture. This is NOT an apple product as pictured.

DO NOT BUY this ITEM. This is NOT a "GENUINE" OEM product made "by Apple" Inc.
They are LYING when they use the word "genuine" in their AD and indicate that the
item is manufactured or being sold "by Apple". How Amazon let's these "bait and switch"
retailers operate on their site is beyond me.

After only three weeks of use, the plastic cover over the Mag-Safe connector came loose. This caused the plug to slip and _sometimes_ not seat correctly so that the computer did not charge, but the light on the plug came on anyway!

I had bought this charger because my old charger was getting pretty beat up and old so I wanted to keep on in handy just in case. I am so glad I bought this one instead of the one at the apple store, even though it is not genuine. I will break down the things I liked and did not like about this charger. First the overall appearance of it is similar to the real apple charger however the two clamps where you can roll up your cord is not position like the genuine one is and it is slightly bigger than the real one. If you are one looking for an exact dupe, this is not the charger for you but if you are like me I am sure you can live with it. The overall construction of this charger is well made seeing that I have dropped it several times, on accident, and it has not cracked or been scratched. But the thing that made me like this charger the most was that the charging time with my laptop has decreased tremendously. I do not know if that was because my original genuine charger was just awfully made or due to wear and tear of the original charger however what I can say is that this new charger has decreased my charging time from 4 hours for full battery to around 2 and 1/2. Being a student this is extremely useful especially when you are pulling all nights. I would recommend this charger if you want a strong charger and don't care about appearances much.

This power adapter is a refurbished original ... (but not refurbished by apple) it has a different connector than the original.. (the connector is bulky and does not stay on all the time - because is too big).. it works if thats what are you looking for... it charges and keeps the computer charged ... like a brand new product...

This is not an apple charger. It ended up messing up my computer and my computer needed to go in for repairs.

I am highly disappointed with the product because I have no other means to charge my Mac book pro and I've sent and email and have not heard back from the company yet. I've sent an email with no reply. Terrible situation.
