Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Mace MSP-14BQ 14-inch B/W Quad IR System is a complete and reliable entry-level solution for remotely monitoring a small area or up to four separate rooms. The four included cameras feature built-in microphones for listen-in audio, and IR (infrared) LEDs (light emitting diodes) for night vision. Easy to install, the MSP-14BQ quad monitoring system provides you with high-quality images that make it ideal for surveillance needs in the home, at the office, or in convenience stores and other small businesses.

The Mace MSP-14BQ black-and-white monitor includes four-channel video BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) or RCA connector inputs, with one-channel EIA/CCIR compatible video BNC or RCA connector output. This unit allows you to view up to four cameras in full-screen mode sequentially with auto-switching (with selectable time-lengths), or in quad or PIP (picture-in-picture) modes, and provides you with a two-times digital zoom. The MSP-14BQ includes video freeze, buzzer, play back and alarm-record support. This system achieves up to 25 fps (frames per second) via CCIR with 320 by 288 pixels in quad mode and 640 by 576 pixels in full-screen, or up to 30 fps via EIA with 320 by 240 pixels in quad mode and 640 by 480 pixels in full-screen. The Mace MSP-14BQ features on-screen set-up, automatic video-loss detection and a real-time clock for timer functionality. This unit runs on 100 to 120-volts AC via an included power supply, and can operate in temperatures ranging from 0 to 45 degrees Celsius. This system's cameras are powered by the monitor via their included 60-foot connection cables, and can receive a picture even in no-light (0 Lux) conditions within a limited distance via their IR emitters.

Technical Features:

  • Video inputs/outputs: 4-channel video BNC or RCA connector inputs, 1-channel video BNC or RCA output
  • Sensitivity: receivable picture at 0 Lux within limited distance via IR LEDs
  • Compatible signal systems: EIA and CCIR
  • Resolution EIA/CCIR: 30/25 fps, max 640x480 / 640x576 pixels
  • Operating temperature: 0 to 45 degrees Celsius
  • Camera dimensions: 3.5 x 3.5 x 4 inches (W x D x H)
Designed primarily for indoor use, the Mace MSP-14BQ camera and monitor system deserves serious consideration as one of the most user-friendly, complete, and economical monitoring solutions for basic security surveillance. The Mace MSP-14BQ's cameras are easy to set up and use and include all the necessary mounting hardware. Users should note that the image sensors in the cameras may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
