Took my puppy for a walk just a little while ago. A huge brown stray dog came charging towards us. I stopped very still and grabbed my can of this pepper spray and while he was still a good distance away I first sprayed the ground just in front of the dog - thinking that the vapors would stop him. Nope. No reaction at all. Then I sprayed it on him, and it slowed him a tiny bit, but he kept coming. Then I sprayed it full into his face and eyes and kept spraying it. At this point a woman with another huge dog on a leash was coming across a yard calling the one that was after us. The dog turned and finally went to her. The dog may have meant no harm, but he was so big and barking so aggressively that he was a threat particularly to my puppy. He NEVER gave any strong reaction to the pepper spray. Never rubbed his face or eyes, never yelped, nothing. I could have been spraying him with water for all the good it did. That was very surprising to me. I had been feeling safe walking most anywhere because I had my pepper spray with me. But now I have lost all confidence in any of the small cans of pepper mace spray against dogs (or people). From now on I think I will carry my big can of Bear Mace on our walks. That is going to be really awkward. I wish the Bear Mace was available in smaller cans.

had trouble with other brands maintaing propulsion.Best mace formula is cs/cn combination.Wish they had cs/cn refills for mace baton.All time best self defense item is ;The Spartan Ruger MK II.

fits nicely in my pocket. i actually found it useful once (who would've thought) and it worked. it's not as effective as actual pepper spray, though. i just learned that mace and pepper spray are two totally different things!
