I found Macedonian Blues to be a really nice CD. I only bought it because I had already purchased Seven Boats, also by Goran Ivanovic and Fareed Haque. If I had done it in the reverse order I probably wouldn't have bought Seven Boats. Macedonian Blues is nice, but I suggest Seven Boats first.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY this CD, July 6, 2004
This review is from: Macedonian Blues: Laments And Dances (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the most worn out in my collection. It has become an addiction of mine with its seductive, haunting melodies. Fareed and Goran work together beautifully musically and technically. All unisons are perfect and the emotion put into each track is almost too much to handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful surprise........., May 2, 2002
This review is from: Macedonian Blues: Laments And Dances (Audio CD)
indeed I had when I got introduced to this two amazing guitarists by coincidence at the Knitting Factory New York April 2002.They have drawn wonderful landscapes while I was laying back in the sofa of the Old Office sibbling on a tequila tonic...Not knowing what to expect, cause I was planning on going to another concert programmed at Knit that eve, and not having a clue who they were, they took me on a wonderful unexpected journey ....I will never forget....
I have to thank them again for tickling my ears so nice and gentle...

I saw Fareed and Goran in concert recently and it was my first exposure to their classical/jazz guitar blend. Within one minute of the first piece they played I was absolutely in awe. The pair works together perfectly and this CD is no exception. Beautiful music from start to finish. At the concert I attended I was lucky enough to be able to chat with Fareed (he's a great guy) and he told me all the instrumental jazz solos he did live and on the Macedonian Blues album were improvised. His technique is one that any guitarist can learn from, and I have. I highly recommend this album to absolutely anyone.

This album became one of the most listened in my collection. It is just great, very soft, gentle, temperament... I strongly recommend it, it will offer you more and more in-depth of every composition and emotion, after each listening... Macedonian songs are one of the most beautiful world music material, and Ivanovic/Haque are probably the best guitarists of their generation... amazing combination!
