This is a great little MP3/MP4 PLAYER,WINDOWS VISTA TESTED COMPATIBLE, for the price the 2GB of storage,Micro SD expandability,nice 2" LCD Screen,SRS WOW Sound,holds Pictures,built in Speaker & Microphone to record Voice & Playback,Recharbable built in Battery, Can be used as a usb storage device, only caveat is the Radio isn't as good as it couLd be, however I don't buy these to listen to the radio.Easy to use AMV VIDEO CONVERSION SOFTWARE(doesn't play real MP4) takes only minutes.OVERALL 4 STARS! I bought this as an alternative to the iPod shuffle, and as such I'm not disappointed.
It has double the storage for $10 less and has a screen so you can scroll through and choose a song. It also has things the Shuffle doesn't have: FM tuner (fine), voice recorder (long start-time, not recommended for capturing quick ideas), picture storage, video storage (windows format only), can display text files (screen is cellphone size, kind of small to be reading a book). Battery life has been pretty good.

Two main problems I've encountered:
1) It adds small files that have to be deleted one at a time or they interfere with playing (these are not visible in Finder when plugged into the computer, this might be a Mac issue)*
2) The internal clock resets every time you turn it on (no CMOS battery compartment).
I'm not disappointed with it, but I'll probably still get a Nano if they have a price drop.


* Update: On a PC you can simply choose to view hidden files and delete the extra files all at once.

I was not at all pleased with the ebook reader that is "supposed" to be on this device! I wish someone could really give me an idea of how I am to put a book on here, and be able to see it!

Ordered it through Amazon and had some issues with their seller, so I ended up ordering it somewhere else. However, once I got the product I was pleased. It is surprisingly light (a little delicate seeming, but what do you expect for $40). It holds pictures beautifully and has a great screen. I've had no trouble with it.

I read some of the other reviews and saw that customers were having trouble because the Oasis comes set so you manually have to push play at the start of each new song. However, if you go to Settings, you can switch this to automatic, so that the songs play without you touching it. I also saw that customers were having trouble with ebooks. This reads .txt (notepad) files. Just open the Oasis folder and paste in a .txt file. The Oasis does the rest.

The screen is beautiful (it has a little trouble with dark scenes, but nothing undecipherable). The Oasis even automatically allows you to view an image in landscape or letter mode depending on the image proportions. This means your pictures aren't scrunched up or shrunk unnecessarily. The video converter is easy to use and comes with a nice manual as well.

The speaker on the Oasis is great and the sound is high quality.

The ebook reader shows white text on a black screen, which makes reading the text on a small screen much easier and clearer.

The Oasis memory even holds what song I am on in my list of MP3s.

For $40 bucks, I highly recommend this. It's not gonna last forever and isn't the best product on the market, but common sense makes it easy to use and it is great for the price. ...One last note: explore the settings. Most the problems I see other people review about are solved by adjusting the settings. Again: Common Sense people!

I am satisfied because at this price this device has many useful features. My only concern is that I bought it to download books from audible but the device is not listed and I can't use it to hear or read my books. I tried to sync from my computer but then the music file doen't show the files it reads as empty. I would like some help so I can use this device more effiently.

Got this for my wife. Surprised at the screen quality - very good. Amazing functionality for such a small device. Two small complaints, however. The round copper color dial is just for looks, so navigation is through the five buttons on the front - one in the middle and two on either side. Do-able, but not as easy as the "joypad" most are familiar with. Secondly, the earbuds are junk - don't judge the sound of this player by the tinny sound that comes out of those earbuds! Overall, very satisfied.

I fell in love with this machine the moment I got it, but it didn't last long. After receiving the player, I charged it, put music, videos, books and more on it and off I went. When the power ran down and needed to be charged a week later, I plugged it in and the screen went white. I called tech support and was told I had damaged the screen somehow. HUH? It worked perfect until the moment I plugged it in. They told me to send it back and I'm waiting to see what happens now.
Other than this I love it. I've read about some people having trouble with the ebook reader, I think I know why, it ONLY reads TEXT files, not lit, pdf, or word file. That's was the confusion for me....this is not a ereader it's a text reader.

I'm sure this is an amazing device but I'm still trying to figure out how to operate the dang thing. As a programmer myself I think I would shoot myself if I had control of such graphics and input and could bungle the job so horribly as these dorks. Yes, the sound is good, and lots of other stuff - who the #$@# cares? Intuitive? Sure, to zombies. I just want to get one hand around the designers throat, sort of a programmer to programmer conference. You don't need to see it.

Keep away from this product. The only good thing about is the radio feature, nothing else. It says it works with XP and Vista, it doesn't! the driver only works with Windows 98. Anf the so called fast and friendly company support is a lie. They won't return emails or phone calls.
The folder features don't work and when you can finally load songs they will rearrange themselves at the players whim and at times you have to hit the play feature after every change of a song.
There is no way to load pictures or video without the driver that only works with 98.

The product is okay. You get what you pay for. It is an okay mp3, and okay video player. Software is a little non working, and takes a while to navigate. I still can not get a book on to it. I am okay with it. It does what I needed it to be.
