Good layout and very compact.
PA Folscher
My eyes are fine (I'm 25), but after the several hours of reading that I often get into with this book, larger print would have been well worth it.
Alexander Higgins
Great reference book for the engineer or machinist.

Any design engineer should have this book. It's got everything from fastener dimensions (if you have to model/draw them in your design) to std. clearance&interference fits to material properties and machining speeds & feeds.

If you're designing, manufacturing, or planning most any products that aren't circuit boards, it's probably a good idea to get a copy of this book.

This book was recommended for a class I was taking but not required...I'm so glad I got it! It's been more than helpful so far and I don't know what I would do without it. It's full of equations and charts that any mechanical engineer or machinist should never be without.

This handbook is a must for any mechanical engineer. Chock-full of useful(hard to find) data. It has everything from shaft alignment to mechanical/chemical properties of materials to wind-chill calculations. Unlike most engineering references, it's easy to use!

I am a recent B.S. mechanical engineering graduate and I purchased the 28th Ed. of Machinery's Handbook shortly after starting my first job. I really wish I would have had this book during school. It is an excellent reference for mechanical engineers, machinists, and the like. I am now using it for various mechanical design projects at work. If you know somebody that has a copy, (it's okay if it's an older edition), flip through it and see if it's something you could use. I thought it was basically a condensed version of almost everything useful that I learned in four years of college. Enjoy!

When trying to figure out the standard accepted dimensions or clearances or whatever, for doing anything mechanical, this book is probably the way to go. The internet is chock full of forums that clog up the search engines, where tool-bags argue over irrelevant things instead of just stating the information you are looking for. So instead of wasting your time wading through that, just crack open this miniature cinder-block of a tome, and find what you're looking for in there.

Things I would improve:

1. Include more background and textbook type explanations at the start of each section. Trying to figure out the basics from the incredibly detailed tables can sometimes be a pain.

2. Make a digitized version. If I could search through this bad boy by getting access to an online version with the purchase of this book, and simply typing what I need into a search bar, instead of leafing through the 87 page index, I would be a very happy engineer.

The materials in this book were helpful in an important products liability case. The book describes processes and procedures- the how to's. I hope more people in industry refer to it.

The content is very good and very helpful. However, the small print is very hard for to read. The description should elaborate on the print size and let you know a larger version of the book is avaiable.

It is not, and never was, a "handbook". As a Modelmaker/Machinist/CNC programmer, it is a needed tool. Some of it. I`ve yet met a person that uses more than maybe 25% of the "bible", but if you`re curious about something mechanical, related to mechanical fields, it`s probably in there. I`ve been using editions as far back as 1950`s editions, but it`s important to keep up with technologies. The CD/PC version will never be practical until we have even smaller and more simple palm PC`s.
Good deal on price from Amazon.
