Any design engineer should have this book. It's got everything from fastener dimensions (if you have to model/draw them in your design) to std. clearance&interference fits to material properties and machining speeds & feeds.

If you're designing, manufacturing, or planning most any products that aren't circuit boards, it's probably a good idea to get a copy of this book.

This handbook is a must for any mechanical engineer. Chock-full of useful(hard to find) data. It has everything from shaft alignment to mechanical/chemical properties of materials to wind-chill calculations. Unlike most engineering references, it's easy to use!

This book was recommended for a class I was taking but not required...I'm so glad I got it! It's been more than helpful so far and I don't know what I would do without it. It's full of equations and charts that any mechanical engineer or machinist should never be without.

I am a recent B.S. mechanical engineering graduate and I purchased the 28th Ed. of Machinery's Handbook shortly after starting my first job. I really wish I would have had this book during school. It is an excellent reference for mechanical engineers, machinists, and the like. I am now using it for various mechanical design projects at work. If you know somebody that has a copy, (it's okay if it's an older edition), flip through it and see if it's something you could use. I thought it was basically a condensed version of almost everything useful that I learned in four years of college. Enjoy!

The 28th Edition of Machinery's Handbook is superb.
Contentwise it offers more than you claimed and/or promised.
It is an excellent reference source for anybody
in the technical profession.

For many years Machinery Handbook has been the go-to source for engineers, tool designers, tool and die makers and machinists. The information is contempory, extensive and invaluable.

The materials in this book were helpful in an important products liability case. The book describes processes and procedures- the how to's. I hope more people in industry refer to it.

The content is very good and very helpful. However, the small print is very hard for to read.The description should elaborate on the print size and let you know a larger version of the book is avaiable.

PROS:
Anyone with half a mechanical interest needs this book. Open it to any random page for hours of good reading material. Orings, gears, threads, metals, materials, everything you love is detailed in this book.

CONS:
The pages are thin, the print is small, and there often aren't illustrations where there should be. More illustrations would be nice.

OTHER THOUGHTS:
This is such a good book that I wish I had spent the extra money and gotten the larger print version. My eyes are fine (I'm 25), but after the several hours of reading that I often get into with this book, larger print would have been well worth it.

This handbook is good, useful for every mechanical engineers.
I think with this handbook, you can learn a lot when you design mechanical products.
