4.0 out of 5 stars More please, October 11, 2000
This review is from: Machisimo (Audio CD)
Although they are from Europe, Gomez comes across much like a California band in possession of loopy optimism This five song CD showcases Gomez's ability to stray from the predictable. If it's about keeping it fresh then these boys nailed it. All five songs are tinted with unique sound. If heard on different days one might ask if this is the same group. It is such a good thing because so many bands rely on the same sound over and over again. Sometimes smooth sometimes not Machismo feels like an experiment and there is nothing wrong with that. These boys rely on curiosity rather that security.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good ep, May 27, 2010
This review is from: Machisimo (Audio CD)
This ep almost seems more like an ep to supplement Bring It On rather than Liquid Skin, and could almost be seen as a bridge between the 2.

The songs are pretty good, very understandable why dajon song could never be released on a full album (at 13.33 min long) but machismo, touchin up and waster could easily fit onto either but also not.

The only downfall of this ep is Do's and Don'ts, a warbling stoner kind of song which never really goes anywhere. Touchin Up has a nice We Haven't Turned Around orchestral feel to it, Waster is a cute little acoustic rock number and many people may already know Machismo from Gone in 60 Seconds, and finally the Dajon Song is a kick back and chill song for a long long time.

Very worthwhile getting.
