machito, graciela his sister vocal on boleros plus the great assitence of musician like tito puente , hernandez and mario bauza . made one of the perfecr example of the latino big band and help to popularaise latin music in the all wolrd, and believe it or not in hollywood during the 50s my recomendation is listenningf and enjoy this album

This is another great compilation of Machito's hits, by the Saludos Amigos label.
It is the second best, after the other compilation (Machito and his Orchestra, by the same label, with titles as Cha-Cha-Charinete). A great oportunity also to listen to some great singing, Machito's sister being among the singers (look for track #11, a great cubop song). Also, nice piano solos by the great Rene Hernandez. A must have for anyone interested in the roots of afro-cuban music. |
