Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-5 Meg Mackintosh is determined to find the thief of a purloined treasure map that mysteriously disappears during a whale watch voyage. Of course, Meg solves the crime and also manages to lo cate the lost treasure. Along the way, pas sengers and readers gain a good deal of whale information. As in Meg MacKin tosh and the Case of the Babe Ruth Base ball (Atlantic, 1986), readers are encour aged to join the detective work through the clue-filled black-and-white sketches and a series of questions. The participa tory nature groups this with Donald So bol's Encyclopedia Brown series and Da vid Adler's mysteries. The format of this book (brief text, large print, numerous il lustrations) suggests a younger audience than Sobol's or Adler's fans, but the vo cabulary and some concepts may be lost on second or third graders. Plot and char acterization are slighter than in the first book, making this an additional purchase; however, libraries in which the first title is popular will want to consider adding Meg's latest adventure. This review is from: Meg Mackintosh and the Case of the Curious Whale Watch: A Solve-It-Yourself Mystery (Meg Mackintosh Mystery series) (Paperback)
This book is talking about a girl named Meg and she wanted to solve the mystery of "who stole the treasure map." Mr. Morley stole the map and the envelope. It had a famous sticker on it and he put it in his pocket watch. He lied to the other people and Meg about stealing it. He put the map in Dr. Peck's camera case. Using different clues, she found who stole the map and why it was stolen.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Meg Mackintosh and the Case of the Curious Whale Watch: A Solve-It-Yourself Mystery (Meg Mackintosh Mystery series) (Paperback)
The story is about a girl named Meg. She is a detective who loves to solve mysteries. Meg, her brother Peter, Skip the dog, and Gramps, Meg's grandfather aboard a ship called the Albatross. In this book she tries to find out who stole a treasure map belonging to the captain. The suspects are Carlos, Mr. Morley, Anthony, Dr. Peck, Jasper, and Carrissa Almost everyone has a motive! In the end Peter deliberately knocks Dr. Peck over and the map falls out! Meg is the only one who believes that Dr. Peck didn't steal the map. In the end Meg finds out who really did it and if you read the book then you will find out whom. I really enjoyed the book and I think you would too.
