Comment: This book has already been well loved by someone else and that love shows. It MIGHT have highlighting, underlining, be missing a dust jacket, or SLIGHT water damage, but over-all itâ?TMs still a good book at a great price! (if it is supposed to contain a CD or access code, that may be missing)

Lucinda Landon knows how to whet a child's appetite for reading. She magically combines word and illustration as she brings the reader deeper and deeper into her Meg Mackintosh mysteries. Landon also stops at well planned intervals to have the reader go back over the clues, both discovered and yet to be discovered. She is amazing at the way she has the children self-monitoring their reading to see if they have all of the clues. She challenges them to be one step aheead of Meg as she uses photographs and her own illustrations to reveal the solution. The students in my fourth grade classroom can't get enough of these mysteries. A common question has been: "When will there be a new one?" I always have to purchase several copies because they love to share these books. They will be delighted to add this mystery to their monthly reading logs.

My son is in 3rd grade and taking off in reading. He is reading the Harry Potter books on his own, but at bedtime he wants to read with me and he is tired and doesn't want to read something too difficult. We like the shorter books for bedtime so we can finish them in a few nights. These Meg Mackintosh books are fun to read and try to figure out the mystery before she does. We generally read one book in 2 or 3 nights. Wish there were more because we just finished the last one and passed them on to a friend. Most 2nd-4th graders can read them on their own. Younger kids can read them with help or have them read to them. Illustrations are simple and we like to try to find clues in the illustrations.

I loved this book for my daughter because she loved solving the mysteries. I loved seeing and hearing her asking questions about words and I read along with her and she asked me who I think took the ring. Turns out I'm not smarter than a 4th grader. That's why I gave this book a 5 star rating
