If I get even a few drops of water in my ear, I get an ear infection which often develops into a sinus infection almost overnight; "swimmer's ear," alcohol, peroxide, jumping up & down smacking myself in the head don't work! I have tried a few different ear plugs; I especially don't like the "balls of wax," because I swim in a lake and after a few uses they look all...greenish-brownish moldy. Blech!

These are so soft & comfortable, easy to put in correctly and easy to grasp, remove, & clean; and most importantly, very, very effective at keeping out water. Reading reviews by people who surf & water-ski made up my mind to try these, and I am very pleased with them...and I can finally swim with no reservations.

I purchased these to replace an old pair of Speedo swimming ear plugs -
Description -

They really look like the pictures and they are soft but not too soft - they have 3 rings(?) -

The Pros -
- Easy in , although it took me a while to get used to having to pull my ear up to let them in
- comfortable , no ear irritation
- easy out , easier if you twist them a little bit before pulling
- they seem to stay in the same position for the duration of a 45 min swim

The Cons
- sometimes they let a little air in and you would hear a funny popping noise everytime the head goes in the water
The use -
I use them 3-4 times / week for around 45 min and they keep the form and seal just fine for that duration - I have not notice any degradation on the material during the 1 month I have been using them -

I wish ...
I wish they had an extra ring , 4 instead of 3

overall a great Product - :) happy with them

These are my first pair of swimming earplugs I have ever tried, but I'm glad I did. I always seem to get water in my inner ear every time I swim, but after using them for a month I haven't had any problems. First let me say, these seal fine just barely sitting into the ear. The first time I tried using them though, I had a scary problem with getting one out of my ear. It probably was a combination of things: I was thinking they should feel more like earplugs for noise(but they do not, I can barely feel them), my hands were wet, and I probably had them a little too deep to begin with. Anyway, when I went to grab them to take them out, I had accidently pushed it a little further into my ear and I couldn't pull it out of my ear. I had to ask a nice woman with fingernails to assist me. Since then I barely sit them into my ear, give em a little twist to make sure they seal, and I haven't had a problem with them falling out or letting water in my ear.

The description on here says nothing about the warning on the back! My 9 year old son had tubes put in both ears 3 weeks ago and I read through a lot of the reviews on here and noticed a lot of people saying these were great for use with the tubes...so I ordered these and was shocked to see the WARNING on the back of the box that says "Recommended for ages 7 and up. Mack's AquaBlock Earplugs are not recommended for use with ear tubes or by patients recovering from ear surgery unless directed by a doctor. Use Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs with ear tubes and for post surgery protection. Do not use for scuba diving or at depths over 10 feet. Use only as directed."

So my son actually had his post-op check up today and I took these to show his doctor. The doctor said "No, NO, No." Evidentally, if not inserted correctly or when the tubes are healing and trying to pop out, damage can be inflicted. So I will be getting the Pillow Soft ones and saving these for later use for myself or my husband to use.

I wish the description on Amazon included the entire packaging warnings/uses/etc.

*Also I should note that these say they are safe for use in chlorinated and salt water. You can wash, dry, and reuse them but should inspect them regularly for servicibility (replace them if they become hard, torn, or deformed.) I hope this helps someone else make the right choice. I wasn't sure how many stars to give this since I'm sure they probably work well...just not for my purpose needed.

I have been swimming regularly for exercise for over 10 years. In all this time I have struggled and used about every type out there. These are the best and keep my ears water free and they are simple to insert.

I dont have a lot of experience with these kind of products. I just started swimming recently. I found that it took a while for me to get these earplugs in the right position to block water but once they were in place they worked great. Idk if I had trouble because I didn't know the proper way to insert them or if they're just poorly designed. Even after the first few times using them it still took a while to get them in place right. But like I said, once I get them in right I don't have to worry about any water getting in my ears. My ear infections have ended for good.

I have tubes in my ears and must keep water out of them. These plugs do the job. Admittedly, I'm not swimming laps, but I do use them while snokling as well as when just relaxing in the pool. In my opinion, these are the best OTC earplugs around.

I know that some reviewers have found the plugs difficult to insert, but, as I use hearing aids, fitting them was very easy. Here's my method: reach over the top of your head and grap your ear. Gently lift up and use your other hand to insert the plug - twisting it helps. If you're still having problems, while you're lifting your ear, also pull it slightly towards the back of your head.

I've had no problem with the plugs falling out or leaking. I gave a set to a friend and she did have problems until she inserted the plugs correctly. Once she got the hang of that, she had no problem.
