UPDATE 2/25/12 - According to a recent article " Wow, Why Has Maclaren Quietly Filed For Bankruptcy Liquidation? - On December 29, 2011, Maclaren USA, the premium umbrella stroller company, quietly filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Connecticut. The company's US headquarters is in Norwalk, where its owner, private equity investor Farzad Rastegar, lives.." Please see comments for link. Alas, I don't know what this means for us owners in terms of customer service going forward.

With three kids under five I've had my fair share of double strollers. Given the huge competition the Twin Techo now faces from other brands and types of strollers, I'll just say it's a good everyday errand stroller for twins.

THE PROS
* Very easy to maneuver
* Excellent for city use - handles curbs and rainy or windy weather easily
* Fits through most exterior doors but not all indoor ones (doctor's offices are especially difficult)
* Short length and small footprint makes it suitable for indoor use (restaurants, malls)
* Relatively lightweight for a double at 27 lbs, but hardly easy to carry
* Somewhat compact when folded but very long (44") - longer than single strollers. Measure your trunk, it might not fit!
* Side handle distributes weight well
* High weight capacity
* Water resistant fabric on the hood
* Excellent quality rain hood secures tightly to top, sides, and bottom; great for windy weather too.
* The black on black color is sophisticated, edgy, and best of all, hides dirt better than any other color. It will look new for a long time.

Love it its for my babies that will be 1 year apart exactly! I have a Maclaren years ago as well for my twins and loved it so I though this one I would really love as its soo much newer and can only be better!

I was looking for an lightweight quick assembly umbrella stroller to replace my double city select when space is limited-love the city select but the assembly can be a little annoying/daunting knowing you to put 2 kids in--run errands, take them out and then disassemble it. I tried the maclaren twin techno and while it looked great, seemed sturdy, the seats were soft and had lots of bells and whistles it was just too heavy and was definitely not a simple quick fold-- had to put my weight into it. If you're looking for an all purpose stroller this could be for you but if you're looking for a backup travel stroller probably not. I ended up with a twin triumph at 23 lbs it's 7lbs lighter (the techno was 30lbs) and has a more compact fold with similar features.

So heavy, and a pain to open and close. The umbrella is horrible doesn't stay in place.

I wanted to love this stroller, but we ended up selling it and getting a City Mini Double (which we love!). This stroller is tough to fold and became really difficult to push once my twins got to be about 15 lbs. If you do any amount of walking, I recommend getting either the Citi Mini Double, or, if you're more serious, a BOB. I can see the utility of an umbrella stroller as a single, but this thing was impossible to push with two relatively small babies in it.

Hello,

Before you purchase this stroller, please take into account the company's customer service policy. Our stroller had a wheel broken off by our airline, and instead of sendind us a new wheel assembly (which my husband can more than easily fix!), they want us to send it to a repair center. They won't even SELL us a new part! I've never had this problem with strollers made by other leading manufacturers that we own/owned (Peg Perego, Baby Jogger, and BOB), so this was a complete surprise. Here is a copy of the actual email reply I received from Maclaren's customer service:

"Dear XXXX,

Thank you for contacting Maclaren Customer Care.

Unfortunately we do not ship wheels to private customers as the rear wheels incorporate the brake system and need to be fitted correctly with the proper tooling, to loose or to tight and the wheels and brakes do not function properly.

The safety of the stroller is our paramount concern and for this reason we do not provide wheels to private customers but direct them to a service agent.

If you let me know your zip code i will be able to advize you where they are located.

If you feel that you cannot ship your stroller to the service agent i will be able to provide you with a 30% discount from the purchase of a new stroller from our web site.

If you would like to take advantage of the discount please advise.

Kind Regards,
Maclaren Customer Care"

Unfortunately, I live in Missouri...about 1,000 miles from the nearest service center and not worth the cost of a part, labor, and shipping in two directions.
