TOP 500 REVIEWERon June 7, 2013
[UPDATE: Returning three weeks later, I discovered a *FLOOD* of fake/solicited 5-star reviews! I must assume the developer, either in-app or externally, or both, created, concocted, solicited, or 'forced' the hundreds of 5-star reviews that appeared after the app was the Free App of the Day. So this app went from 3-stars to 1-star for developer shenanigans!]

WHY does this app need internet access?? There is NOTHING in the app that requires this, unless it needs it for the "More Apps" screen where you can buy its Weather Pro software. That doesn't make sense, though, because it launches another software to reach the internet or the app store. So, again, WHY does this app need internet access?

As far as the app's performance goes, there's nothing special here. The battery "usage" simply takes me to the devices built-in utilization information.

On the other hand, the amount of 'time remaining' doesn't add up. When I started the app, my batter on my 10.1" Samsung Note was at 73% (already indicated in the notifications area) which would last more than a day on standby. Yet the app said I had 29 minutes left. Coming back to the app after a few minutes, the time now says 9 hours and 1 minute left at 72%. Still daft.

While this app really is pretty, there's nothing here that my OS already has built-in. Furthermore, the free app ZDBox does this and a whole lot more, both regarding the battery and other essential functions.

Even free, this doesn't seem worthwhile to have in my library. Out of 5 stars, it lost 2 stars for idiotic internet access permission and for wacky statistics regarding the time left. At least it's attractive.

This functional but limited app does its job with a minimum of fuss but I observed little difference between the pay for version and the free version except, perhaps, for the absence of the unobtrusive ads.
Update: Battery Pro indicated that my battery was healthy, temperature was normal, etc. at the same time the battery wouldn't hold a charge or accept a charge...so that information is useless.Becoming less happy with this app as time passes.

For a so-called PRO Version of an app, it sure is lacking in features. All it does is tell you how much of a charge you have left. Big deal, the Kindle has built in services that will do that. If you want a truly full featured app you can customize, try Battery HD Pro. It's a much better utility, you can set notifications for any charge level, and there is much more information available concerning the battery and previous chargings. You can also get Battery HD, which is the free version. It does the same thing but has ads. I found the app so useful I bought the paid version.

Battery Pro (this app) is basically useless and a waste of money, unless you picked it up during the faotd special.

I am Not sure at this app is working properly. I just installed it on my Droid Razr Maxx and have 89 percent free. The app is reporting 7 minutes left?

Reasons to get the app:
1. It gives you the exact percentage of battery
2. It is very easy to use
3. It is simply what it says, a battery app. Nothing else

Reasons not to get the app:
1. It doesn't really do anything. You click on the app and it tells you how much battery you have. That is on the top of your screen anyway.
2.You have to have Internet connection. WHY?!
3. Its a waste of app space because it just tells you what you can see from the top of the screen.

At least it didn't cost money.

Today's free app of the day for June 7, 2013 is Battery Pro from MacroPinch. This is one of those apps that seems like it should have been a 5 star app but in reality it disappoints which is why I am going to explain why I am giving this only 3 out of 5 stars in detail below.

Yes, this app can be useful in telling you about your battery usage on an android device. But the main problem I have is a message that pops up after a short period of time after opening it. The message is "Rate Battery. Do you like Battery? Would you give your 5-star rating to help us make the app even better?"

So I am reading that thinking how giving MacroPinch a 5 star rating is going to improve the app. Does that mean that they are only interested in improving their app if everyone gives them a thumbs up approval? That doesn't seem right. Did the Wright Brothers improve flight by getting approval from beginner level pilots? Innovation is what makes apps better, not positive feedback saying that the app is great.

But even if the app developer's request for their users to leave a 5 star app to improve the app hadn't existed, this is probably not quite a 5 star app since they did not really implement a user's guide to help you understand how to use this app to its maximum potential.

I want to apologize to many of the 5 star reviewers in advance. I found that most of the 5 star reviews of this app to be of little value. Most of them state that they love it, or that it is good, or it is simple to check the battery level, but very few seem to point out a single thing that makes this battery app stand out from others such as the ability to show how much battery power is used for a specific thing such as the screen lighting. This proves my point above that many users can use this app but are not able to use it to its maximum potential.

Because of the app developer's lack of innovation and lack of explaining how to get the most out of their app, I have to give this the 3 stars out of 5 rating I mentioned above.

What a waste of an app. All it does is show you battery level and a bunch of ads for other priced apps.

I neither saw nor experienced any redeeming qualities of this app that my OS didn't already do for me. This lasted 38 seconds on my Xoom, which was more than enough time to try it, score it and was deleted.

Dev says there are no ads. So why does a *paid for* battery monitor app need full internet access? Convince of the necessity, Dev, and I'll up the rating AND actually install the app.

Sorry, but this needs a graph to show the battery drain history. One review says it has one but there isn't.
