4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for new guys!, March 22, 2006
Goes through all the basics of nutrition without any wacky diets.

Pretty straightforward guide:
-split your meals
-high protein
-low glycemic carbs
-healthy fats
-supplementation
-simple recipes

I've been working out for 12 years and agree with 99% of the info presented in this concise book. It's the standard bodybuilding diet. I like how he incorporates EFA and other heart healthy fats like olive oil and nuts. I remember 10 years ago when ALL fats were an evil thing :) He also talks about the muscle building process and how nutrition factors in which tells you WHY you should be eating certain foods. Anyway, perfect for beginners unsure of what to eat.

My only complaint is that the author uses the book to push his mediocre supplement line which I don't fault him for since he owns MHP. There are better/cheaper protein & creatine supplements on the market.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what the title implies, September 16, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This book is designed for mega body builders who want advice on taking lots of supplements in order to bulk up and obtain the type of physique shown on the cover. It is not very good at explaining how to get maximum nutritional value from food in order to more efficiently burn fat, which is what I was hoping for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Macrobolic Nutrition, June 1, 2006
This book is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn more about how important the types of food we eat are when trying to sculpt a lean and muscular physique. It comes complete with Glycemic indexes, nutrient breakdowns, and caloric intake charts for people over/under 15%bodyfat, active/sedentary, breakfast, lunch and dinner meal plans. The best part about the diet is that it doesn't restrict anything. Without giving away everything the nutrient breakdown goes 45/35/20- carbs, protein, fat. The book gives detailed descriptions of when the best time is to take in your nutrients, and supplement recomendations. Given that Dente runs his own supplement company that isn't surprising, but the advice is solid and from what I've heard his MHP product line is top notch. As a personal trainer I have been recommending this diet to my clients, (but actually getting them to follow through is a different story). Try it for yourself and you won't be disappointed.
