About the Author

Charles I. Jones (Ph.D. MIT, 1993) is the STANCO 25 Professor of Economics at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Professor Jones's main research contributions are to the study of long-run economic growth. In particular, he has examined theoretically and empirically the fundamental sources of growth in per capita income over time and the reasons underlying the enormous differences in standards of living across countries. In recent years, he has used his expertise in macroeconomic methods to study the economic causes behind the rise in health spending and longevity. He is the author of Introduction to Economic Growth, Second Edition, also published by W.W. Norton & Company.

While I thought this textbook was very well written, and interesting (especially for an intermediate level macroeconomics book), there was no way to find the solutions for the end of chapter exercises. The book gives the worked solution for just one or two of the problems but leaves one hanging on the rest. I went to the website to find the rest of the worked solutions and although the Norton website makes it sound like such solutions are available, I gave up after about thirty minutes of searching on their website. Please throw us a bone for an otherwise very well received textbook, Norton!

I was really disappointed when I found out that I did not have access to the exercises online. Anytime I click on something online it gave me an error message. This book should have come with a CD where you could find the exercises. I personally think that this is incomplete product. This book is very informative but the key to learn is to do the exercises. Therefore, I would not recommended this book.

This a very good "intermediate" book of Macroeconomics. However it intends to be a introduction to Macro, it seems to be a sort of "Intermdiate" level book. But this consideration doesn't offset the profound knowledge of Prof. Jones and the great quality of his work.
