Perfectly fine for the basics, though beware of bias.,
By
This review is from: Macroeconomics: Private and Public Choice, 13th Edition (Kindle Edition)
This text is perfectly adequate in its covering of macroeconomic topics. Nothing more, nothing less. I often found myself supplementing what I'd read with additional material just so I got a more thorough understanding through interesting applications.
The conservative bias is pretty obvious. Numerous sources cited are from conservative think-tanks with an obvious political agenda (the author also belongs to one). Take much of what is said in here besides the main concepts with a grain of salt.

THe book was in good condition. Did have a few tiny stains at the corners, but nothing worth noticing. No ripped pages and everything is readable. No markings of any kind are also visible.

Basic macroeconomics, nothing really exciting or new in this textbook.
Some chapters are identical to those in the microeconomics textbook from the same author.

I don't know much about the book because I returned it immediately when I got. I had ordered the wrong book for class and Amazon (as always) made this transaction go very smoothly. Will shop here any day! THANKX!
On a side note, the book I am using for class now is very easy to read and understand. Its "Principles of Macroeconomics" by N. Gregory Mankiw and the publisher is South-Western Cengage Learning. This is the publishers website <www.cengage.com/economics/mankiw>. Hope this helps!

Unbalanced presentation, too many typos...,
By
This review is from: Macroeconomics: Private and Public Choice (Paperback)
I've recorded a number of macro books for blind/dyslexic people. This one, unfortunately for anyone who actually wants to learn what macroeconomics is about, is very unbalanced ... it presents just a single doctrinaire point of view (Heritage Foundation conservative) with little to no effort to mention that there are many other perspectives. If you're reading this review you probably are required to read this book .. in this case, if you actually want to understand the subject you will need to do some collateral reading, for example (for a conservative perspective) in Greg Mankiw's macro text. If you're an instructor assigning this book as the only text, you should be ashamed of yourself! Another complaint .. there are far too many typos and errors. The text I'm recording is advertised as the "13th edition"! Surely it ought to have been proof-read by now.

Text for Macro Econ class,

This review is from: Macroeconomics: Private and Public Choice (Paperback)
My Husband is an economist, so I had a bit of an intro before taking this class, but I'm not overly impressed with this text book. Especially what's included in each chapter. There is too much crammed in to chapter 7, and nearly NOTHING in chapter 8, but they are both the same length. Standard publisher issues. For the cost of the text, it wasn't all that amazing, but it was a required text, so...
