If you want to know the lichens of the Pacific NW, this book is one of the main ones that those of us with a passionate interest in lichens use, along with Trevor Goward's Lichen ID Manuels from BC, Canada, and "Lichens of North America" by Brodo and Sharnoff and Lichen Biology. This book provides overviews of macro-lichens of the Pacific NW as well as a key for identifying the lichen according to genus and species. He has helpful individual photos and/or descriptions of both common and less common PNW macro-lichen species, along with helpful photos and written info that assist you to distinguish between similar species. He also provides info and ratings regarding air pollution sensitivity for many of these lichens and provides info on how each lichen species responds to chemical testing for ID purposes.
