An advanced book for an advanced application,

Warning! If you are not familiar with OOP coding, or have weak HTML skills, do not start with this book. That said, as usual, Macromedia has produced a book that opens doors to tools making one of their already awesome programs even better!! I will let others go through describing chapter by chapter what makes this book so helpful. I did want to be sure to warn off anyone looking for a beginning book on ColdFusion. If that is what you need, starting with Dreamweaver MX: Training from the Source or The Web Application Contruction Kit (Fourth Edition) is very thorough. ColdFusion MX: Training from the Source will make much more sense once you understand how and why it works the way it does.

I purchased this book because I have become comfortable with "Training From The Source" series. I feel the author/author's could have done a much better job explaining why and how rather then writing we don't have enough room for that.... I was left with way to many questions when I finished the book and had to buy Cold Fusion MX Web Application Construction Kit (Fifth Edition) to help me. If you are having problems with code not working from the authors directions, check the finished code. Unfortunately you will have to do this more then once.

Hello,This is nice book for sure. There is a lot of detail given in the book. This book is advance book. This simple, concise guide uses step-by-step, project-based lessons developed in the Macromedia training centers to guide you through all of the program's basic features, both new and old. I will suggest the read the book by Ben Forta : ColdFusion Development Kit (Third Edition) before move to this book. This is good book for sure. Regards, Pinal Dave (Macromedia Certified Advanced ColdFusion MX Developer) |
