5.0 out of 5 stars Reinhardt & Dowd do it again
This book just keep getting better and better. I've had every edition since Flash 5 and over the years Robert Reinhardt and colleagues have dug ever deeper into the power of Flash. This goes far beyond the typical "comprehensive reference" (though it certainly is that) to provide a definitive resource totally grounded in real-world considerations and guidance. You really...

3.0 out of 5 stars Reads like Ferris Bueller's homeroom teacher
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Jeez. I'm an admitted beginner at Flash, so I can't trash this book too much. I'm keeping it on my shelf because maybe, someday, I'll be advanced enough to need it. So, basically, all I can say is this: if you're a beginner, look at * Macromedia Flash Professional 8 Hands-On Training * from Lynda. If you're an intermediate or advanced user, you...

You really only need on one Flash book, and this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely thorough, understandable, and well-written, June 22, 2006

I am a Computer Science student and purchased this book to learn Flash for use with a project. I am very pleased-I think the book has very thorough descriptions and examples, and also offers great advice about design issues and other important considerations when developing a project.

I would highly recommend this book for someone who is new to Flash. As someone with technical background, it was very easy to follow and understand, and also offered insights that I do not get from my classes. I believe even those with limited development experience will find the book very informative, since it does not assume that the readers have prior knowledge about the topics in the book.

Great book, highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok, May 28, 2006

I have not seen the other Flash Bible Books so therefore gave it a 4 star rating. Also i am a tad dissapointed, the book itself has a lot of info (which the first few chapters is basic stuff) but it also seems that this may be the same content as the other Flash Bible books. It does go over some of the new Flash 8 features like the filters, however i was hoping the book would contain the new "BitmapData" and bitmap caching but it did not. Also maybe go over the timeline effects even if it is simple to understand. Had these features been included it would have been 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robert You Rock!, January 29, 2007
This review is from: Macromedia Flash8 Bible (Paperback)
Not only is the Flash 8 Bible a must have for all Flash developers, Robert takes the book a step further by offering FANTASTIC technical support. For example, I had trouble with a function taught in the book, I posted the question on Robert's support page and within less than an hour of posting my question, Robert got back to me with assistance and helped me until the problem was solved.

You won't regret this book or the support that is offered with it. The best Flash book I've ever purchased!

I bought the book wanting to get a jump start using Flash. I have been a programmer for over 15 years and wanted to learn how to make multimedia apps with Flash. The book is written to be a reference manual but also is an easy read with several keep projects per concept taught. The examples were a bit simplistic, though.

I honestly cannot believe how much information this book has on Flash 8. I mean, when you get your book, just looking at it you can see how much information it has. This book answered all of my questions concerning flash 8, and inspired many new ideas just from the examples in the book. If you want to spend money to make money, this book is definitely where you should start.

5.0 out of 5 stars CD in a flash, September 29, 2008
This review is from: Macromedia Flash8 Bible (Paperback)
I received my purchase sooner than I expected but when I opened it up the cd that accompanied the book was broken in half. I figured that I would have to live with it since I bought the book used and paid next to nothing for it. I decided to give contacting them a shot. I sent a very short e-mail telling them what had happened I didn't get a response and again figured that I would have to do without the CD. To my surprise 3 days later the cd arrived in the mail. That's excellent customer service. I will definitely check with these guys first before buying another book.
Thanks,
A happy hard to please customer
