Excellent Resource for the O-Chem Student!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Macroscale and Microscale Organic Experiments (Hardcover)
I received this required text in prime shape from Amazon.com, first. Amazon always does such a wonderful job of getting you the product you need in good shape when you need it. The product itself? Very good explanations of how the glassware goes together, what to do, how to do it, and all with a good explanation of WHY. WHAT you are doing, WHY you are doing it, and HOW it works are chief among the reasons I like the explanations of the experiments. It does not give TOO MUCH away, however. You do still have to perform the experiments and come to a conclusion as to what the UNKNOWN was, if that happens to be the case, and other mysteries such as that, but in terms of learning, it is excellent! And the experiments are neatly divided into the Macroscale and the Microscale procedures. This is obvious, but it should be in this case. Great resource for O-Chem students!

We used this in my organic chem I lab course. The directions were clear, the diagrams were helpful, and I liked the way the book familarized the student with the glassware used in o chem (unlike my new o chem II book which does not!).

Great Lab Text,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Macroscale and Microscale Organic Experiments (Hardcover)
The experiments are presented first with a look at the theory behind them, reactions are listed, mechanisms are drawn if need be (not as in-depth as your lecture textbook), and the procedures are laid out with little to no ambiguity. The book lists lists out all the instruments and glassware you will be using throughout the laboratory experience at the beginning of the book with pictures for each one to ensure you have them present in your lab equipment. The experiments are divided up by some common theme between 5-6 of them and none of them are terribly difficult to perform, which is good, because this allows you to focus more on the theory and understanding the reaction than getting the highest yield you can. As long as you don't spill anything or goof off, your yields will always be fine (in case your school grades by % yield).

A used book of great quality! A few highlighter marks, but I think that adds to the value (esp. for studying).

Simply excellent. It provided adequate theory behind each of the experiments while explaining the experiments' procedures step by step.

Macro and Microscale Organic Experiments,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Macroscale and Microscale Organic Experiments (Hardcover)
This book is useful in setting up the techniques needed for the lab. But the older versions are a lot cheaper and they are just as useful. I recommend that you buy the older versions because you will get as much out of it as you would this version. Plus most lab professors are fine with you using the older versions because there isn't a lot of differences

Awful book condition.,
By Jane Doe "Jane Doe" (Anywhere but here.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Macroscale and Microscale Organic Experiments (Hardcover)
The book was not in new condition, it had obviously been used and the spine was falling apart and pages had been ripped out. This book was needed for school assignments and some I was unable to complete because of the missing pages.

My book has yet to arrive and its been over a month,
This review is from: Macroscale and Microscale Organic Experiments (Hardcover)
I am very distraught because school is coming up. I bought this book for 44 some odd dollars and it has not arrived, but all of my books from other sites have arrived. To add matters worse I cant find any support in obtaining my book from a customer service because Amazon thinks they are too good to add a customer service page or contact to their web site. Overall I hope they can help me, but I dont think ill be using them anytime soon because of their inability to effectively transfer books or keep other sellers honest.
