MACROSS RULES!!!!!!,
By Otaku Overlord (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Macross: The Complete (Audio CD)
Good god! How can you not like this collection!?Mara Ijima (Minmay) sings on a multitude of tracks, most of which were featured on the 25-minute TV Special/Music Video FLASHBACK 2012 shown on Japanese TV in late 1983. Each track has been painstakingly transferred from Vinyl and Tape, cleaned up, and then placed on these CD's. As for the Instrumental and Digital music, they are a great kickback to the days of Macross, Super Dimension Calvary Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. A 90% all in all. This music is performed by the same artists who made the music for Super Dimesnion Century Orguss. Though the price is a bit steep, these songs are very hard to find individually, as most have not been reissued since 1986-89. Any Macross Fan worth his or her salt needs this set. GET IT NOW!!!!!!

A DREAM FINALLY COME TRUE...,
By
This review is from: Macross: The Complete (Audio CD)
This complete 3 CD soundtrack/orchestral score to the original Macross story (Hikaru Ichijoe, Lynn Minmay, Misa Hayase) is incredible. If you enjoyed the music from the Macross film "Do You Remember Love", the original japanese Macross series, or music from its sequel (2012), then you'll love this; it's all included. The most stunning surprise for me is that there are instrumental versions of the Minmay songs (with background vocals included) that sound heavenly -- particularly track #25 on disc 2, which is "Do You Remember Love". Other great musical pieces include track #2 on Disc 1, which features the music played as Hikaru and company are scouting space before (and during) the first battle sequence of the film. The background music from the daytime duel between Max and Milia (when Kakizake gets wasted) is incredible (Disc 2), as well as the haunting choral DYRL love theme played when Misa and Hikaru are learning about the protoculture on the remains of Earth --when that city rose from the bottom of the ocean, remember? The music from the battle in Saturn's rings (when Hikaru and Minmay are saved by Roy Fokker before being captured), and the T'sentradi theme (the start of the final battle) are completely awesome to hear as well. Remember folks, there are 3 CDs worth of music on here, and each CD is over 70 minutes long. The whole mythos of Macross, from the music, to the storytelling, to the animation is simply magical. I have wanted the music from this movie since I was in the fifth grade -- so I have been humming this music in my head for 14 years. Now I finally own it. If you love background music from anime or memorable cartoons such as Transformers: The Movie (I own that score too), Voltron, or even Robotech, then you should probably consider this. I must say that out of all the Macross series, I still feel that the Macross Plus installment (Isamu, Guld, & Myung) has the best music (i.e. "Voices"), however the original Macross music is magical too, that is, if you enjoyed it... Thanks for reading! Lt. Commander Knyte

AT LAST!,

This is the greatest and the best anime series ever made. Period!
For fans of this anime series, this compilation of discs is a must. The price is immaterial, when you consider the contents inside. This is getting rare to get a hold off. Containing all the different macross versions ever released, it also contains those glorious orchestral backgrounds that made the movie and TV series so much more enjoyable. Get this CD-set and I am confident that you will not regret it.

Superb, most complete anime soundtrack ever,
By David Waters (Montgomery, Alabama United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Macross: The Complete (Audio CD)
This CD has it all, every single piece of music from the original Macross story arc, and in my opinion, the greatest one at that. All the music from the TV series Superdimensional Fortress: Macross, Superdimensional Fortress: Macross the Movie - Do You Remember Love?, and the OVA Macross Flashback 2012 is here on three discs. Not only is the music exquisite, heartwarming, and one of the most fitting anime soundtracks ever, but it is 100% complete. Well worth the price for any fan of the original Macross saga and characters, or of any fan of terrific orchestral music or J-Pop.

Well worth the price- I've seen the bootleg version for less, but nothing compares to the original Japanese release. Like the title says, it's complete- everything from Macross TV series to DYRL to Flashback 2015 and more. Definately worth having.

Absolutely hands down winner. If you are a Macross fan, you have to own this. If you are a fan of lead singer Iijima Mari, you have to own this. If you want some old style anime music of the 80's, go for it, you won't regret.

Relive your childhood,

This review is from: Macross: The Complete (Audio CD)
Macross was known in america because was included in Carl Macek's Robotech (with slight and sometimes huge modifications) but as a direct result of the interest raised for Robotech, it is natural that you finish wanting to know the original story Macross, and it's spin-off movie "Do you Remember Love?" . The songs as interpreted by Ms Mari Ijima (now an actress living in LA) are superb, tender and moving, her interpretation to "Little White Dragon" makes you wish to be in the concert at the Macross auditorium and the epic "Love, Do you Remenber?" makes you shed tears (if you have seen the movie you will know why) This is a must buy for the fans of both series and the american adaptation.

...You'd Better Shop Around.
The excellent MACROSS COMPLETE CD set provides hard-core fans with the soundtracks of Japan's much heralded MACROSS television series (1982), the classic MACROSS: DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE? feature film (1984) and the original animation video FLASHBACK 2012(1987). Contained within the double-sized jewel case are three discs boasting the vocal arrangements (with instrumental counterparts) and the orchestral/symphonic suites of Macross. One-hundred and fourteen tracks in all! 16 page song booklet (Japanese text) also included. Note: While worth every penny at any cost -- for the price conscious collector who doesn't mind shopping for bargains, earlier pressings of the MACROSS COMPLETE CD collection can still be had for approximately one-fourth the cost of the one-hundred dollar Victor release.
